Did you really think there wasn't going to be an ad here I mean really.
So this week's Watch-Along episode is Scare at the Litwick Mansion which is a really good one and you should watch and comment and things ok? It's comment-able from now until the 21st. Go on, go on.
General Character Discussion is a pretty lax thread if you wanna come talk about pretty much anything chit-chatty concerning the anime though it's primary focus is on characters and character interactions/interpretations. Stay loosely on topic and it's all good.
Thursday brings the Episode N finale and some new movie info to Japan; Saturday brings the beginning of Episode N to America.
That's all for your pre-roll ads~

So it's def Syddy's fault I started reading YGO again. There is no question about that. I caught up to her in about eight hours and now I'm somewhere in vol 14 idk. Battle City aw yeaaaa.

And it's tumblr's fault that I've started watching Achievement Hunter. Holy man those guys are quality. I'm just starting to watch the entirety of Let's Play Minecraft and now I really want to actually play Minecraft because I like building things and wow I didn't realize it was that cool? Wow.

I haven't seen Doctor Who since it restarted airing oops. I'm like three weeks behind on 8 Out Of 10 Cats. I never did finish last series of QI, although Clarkson's episode still hasn't aired because he probably did something dumb again idk. I haven't seen Pointless in a while because ugh work. I'm paused in my rewatch of Best Wishes because the Tirtouga eps are boring but I have to watch for completion's sake. I'm two episodes behind on Man Lab. I'm two episodes behind on Chronicles of Syntax. I haven't seen CrashCourse in ages. Oh man. I absorb a lot of media shut up.

I'm very nearly done with Gym Leader Challenge on Black- training up to face the E4&Ghetsis, then have to battle the E4&Alder to finish. And then I'll actually have completed Black and can justify buying Black2 yayy. And I'm... nowhere near done with GL on HG. Still about to capture Ho-oh. Been there for weeks.

And work is pretty constant and they always schedule me for like five days in a row over busy days and I've had to leave the cash lanes and go cry nearly every day because people are horrible. I really like the people and the work environment there and it's really nice except for the actual cashiering and also the commute which is 25min by car when I get a ride and 1.5hrs by bus otherwise. So yeah if you see me making a hell of a lot of weird spelling mistakes that means I am on my phone on a bus.

People are mean to you? I'm a cashier, too, and I've only had three P.O.S. customers in six months (where I work presently). That's pretty good I'd reckon! Esp. since my assistant service manager had one guy hork on her because of a price error in the Vegetable department. Wth? lol

Sounds like you work in a bad neighbourhood.

No it's mostly fine, it's just that we have so many people all the time that people often get stressed and pissy and take it out on the cashiers. IKEA is huge and disorienting for people and they can't always find a person to help them and they don't get how things work so they get upset. It's not a lot of people percentage-wise, but enough that it's noticeable. And bad things stay with you more than mediocre things. Most of the time they're not even like yelling directly at me really, it's more like the general attitude and tone of "everything is your fault; fix it". And I get easily overwhelmed, panicky, and stressed out and I am just a kid so I have to do my best to deal with the rest of the customers and keep from crying until someone takes over. Because I can't deal with people who are just horrible when someone is speaking to them politely and with a friendly tone.

You work at Ikea? I read a recent story that they admitted to using inmates in Europe to make their furniture lol it was in the news.

Also, ignore those kinds of people. They're grumplestilskins. It's not your fault. I worked at Walmart and you could literally NEVER find an on-floor associate, even for popular departments like clothing and fashion. You'd even call'em over the PA and they were nowhere to be found. It was awful. What was worse was that I wasn't just a Cashier - I was at the Courtesy Desk where complaints and angry customers go to rave about getting the wrong price on something or for refunds, bad products, etc. Generally it was a great place to be, but some customers were just over-the-top pissed off about minor things, making a big deal over stuff that was so piddly to fix.

The best you can do is remain calm and don't take it personally. That's the worst thing you can do. They don't know you. They know nothing about you other than that you handle the money and wear a little Ikea badge with a name on it. They're nobody to you, and you're nobody to them. If they become abusive or excessive, you can call a manager to take care of it; that's what I would do when a customer would not listen to reason at the Walmart Courtesy Desk. I'd dump the bad pickle on a higher-up who would generally repeat the same thing and tell them to get lost lol

idk man I just ring things up and get paid. in the US where apparently that's a non-issue. we didn't get that prob and we didn't get the horsemeat so w/e

Yeah these are things that people tell me over and over again and the fact remains that I can't deal with horrible people. So.

Wait, what's horsemeat gotta do with it XD I got lost somewhere.

But yeah, that's all you can really do. I had a hard time at first, too - I cried when I accidentally scraped two bread tops in the proofer at Subway (couldn't sell it afterwards), as well as when they tried to put me on cash the first time - but in time, it improves.

I still am quirky socially, but my quirkiness at least keeps me happy through stuff. I'm literally the happiest person at work - and people tell me it all the time - and I've never let a customer get me down. Who are they to ruin my day? I just gotta pick up and move on. No use crying over them when they're not worth it.

I'm really shy and timid in reality, but outgoing if I feel comfortable. Whenever a client tries to make me feel uncomfortable by being mean or abrupt or crude, I giv'em the frowny face, ignor'em and make them feel uncomfortable asking me, say, for bags or something. Screw'em. U dun treat me like dat 'cuz u gots dah wallet; I gotz a wallet, too, and iz in my purse wit my brick and I'sa smack u wit it next time, bish < the look I giv'em.

Gotta show'em you're confident, you know your rights and they gotta know who's boss! You don't mess with the people ringing in your stuff 'cause you can make it Hell for 'em! Like the guy today who came in to my work to bag people's stuff for donations towards Guide Dogs. He got into a brawl with a customer over a snide comment - punching and pushing and everything LOL two grown men! - and I bet that customer'll think again before he's rude to service people...

lol but Ikea has nothing to do with horsemeat... wtbeans!

And unfortunately, retail is probably the better jobs without a degree (not sure about your ed.). Food service is worse; people get very, very crummy about their food and sanitation and stuff. You also smell like your work, and that's no fun lol

Unless you work in an assembly line, but that's no place for a girly.

no but it does because there were trace amounts of horsemeat in european ikea meatballs along with all sorts of other stuff from other places. i thought that was pretty widely known?

psh w/e girls can do whatever. my grandma keeps telling me i should come live with her and work at the farm industry places by her. but i guess i'll do godawful crap until i decide that amybe i could possibly accomplish something with my life and then go off to college and become horribly indebted and spend the rest of my life paying it off with a job that has nothing to do with whatever degree i end up getting

    life is so fun

Ikea sells meat? Since when? Ikea is a furniture store, you silly bean! I think you've got the name of your company wrong... Did you mean Target? lol

Not, but seriously, Ikea must be different in the States. Ours only sells furniture.

And you can apply for scholarships and choose not to be horribly indebted. What do you like doing? Science, math, languages? Though I think the only jobs that don't require customer service would be like, being a seismologist. You just sit there waiting for a needle to move, signalling tectonic plate activity. Then you record those results and share with a handful of other seismologists in a certain radius to determine where that activity came from (the three circle effect).

But you'll always work with people... Regardless the profession you choose, and there'll always be a Barry Kipke to ruin your fun. That's when you put a rock in your sock and wack'em over the head a few times. And then a few more. Til they be dead.

we have the restaurant... and the bistro... and the Swedish food market... and it's required for all ikeas outside sweden to have them so unless you live in sweden then your ikea does not meet company standards

uh yeah hahahaha like i'd get scholarships. what am i? an average little girl who didn't do crap in high school, graduated with a 1.67 gpa after retaking about a third of her classes. i don't qualify for crap because my parents make too much money but they don't make enough to just up and pay for college. i have no lasting interests, no talent, nothing. there ain't **** for me.

and i may always work with people but it won't always be hundreds of people in a shift so

Well, maybe ours does and I've just never noticed.... but I never hear anyone talking about Ikea's Swdish Meatballs!

And some scholarships are like, essay entries. You write an essay on a topic and submit it. There are lots of different topics. There's even scholarships for volunteering at places. Gotta research. My parents can't pay for my university education so I hafta figure it out on my own, too.

And everyone has talents and interests. You're how old? I'm 20 and I know what I want to do in life, but that's out of the ordinary. Normally people are confused even til age thirty about what they really wanna do! You still have time to figure it out.
