Okay, another hiatus, another return! Uni sucks etc.

The next bunch of entries will be in response to the challenge offered up by Antemortem:
Anyway, think you could try out songs from video games featuring mainly if not complete string ensembles? I love strings/winds and would love for some to be highlighted.
He later said that songs with just any strings is fine too, so there it is - VG tunes featuring a string instrument for at least most of it!

On that note, if you want to suggest songs fitting that, feel free to talk about them in the comments, as there's some candidates I probably won't cover. (Although I am tempted to finish with a 'bunch of others to check out' deal...) And if you want to suggest another challenge for later you can do that too.

This entry is from a game that only released last year (at least in English), but it's one of my favourite games already. This tune isn't even my favourite from the game, but it has some nice tunes, including this less overwhelming tune.

Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS is a belated sequel (of sorts) to the original game, made some 25 years previous. It's a pretty good gem of a game with a heck of a lot of replay-ability to it, nice music, good gameplay (albeit with a control scheme that may take some time to get used to), and excellent voice acting and dialogue. If you're looking for another 3DS game to tide you over after the up-and-coming Pokemon release, it'll be hard to go wrong with this.

...What's that? Talk about the song? Oh, okay. =p Get past the short intro with drums and all, and you get a violin performing the melody. It isn't a particularly catchy or complicated tune, but it works well for the part of the stage it is used in, I feel. It also builds up nicely to the part around 0:51 or so when the guitar joins in again for a brief feature to back up the violin, with a slight increase to the percussion as well. It's a very nice part to listen to in of itself, even if it doesn't last a full 20 seconds in itself.

On a few general interest notes, this song also features as the 'waiting' music for wifi battles, and I suppose it does well there too. As for the composer? Well, the game actually had six of them. One of them (Masafumi Takada) worked on other titles such as SSB Brawl and No More Heroes, while another (Yasunori Mitsuda) did Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Xenogears, while... actually, it just goes on. A few other games in that list done by composes include Mario Tennis, Golden Sun, Castlevania, Etrain Odyssey, Ace Attorney... the point is the game is pretty much made of a golden team of people.

Whatever song will I pick next time!? Well, I know that the next two entries are already written, so that's a start. Maybe the next entry won't take so long then. ;p

Next entry!

Wow, this is really nice. I wasn't really expecting something from Kid Icarus: Uprising and I tried to recall a song with strings involved, but I couldn't. I remember listening to this one on Youtube at some point and I fell in love with it, so this brought back memories of listening to it before. Great selection, great blog as always. :3c

This is a pretty soothing tune. Then again, I always love when drums, violins, and guitars come together haha.
They are a pretty good combination! And yes, soothing is a decent description of the tune there.

It's maybe not the most memorable tune from the game (heck yeah Dark Pit theme), but it's still quite nice. Glad you liked the first tune proposed!
