Black & White have already lost, thanks to history and the past failures of Pokémon

I'm diving into murky waters here, but ah heck.

Based on the pains of the fourth generation, the (majority thought) "worst" generation, people jump the gun to say that Black and White is going to be horrific and terrible. I don't think that's the right kind of thinking we need with these.

Yes, I didn't like fourth gen either, and it was very disappointing, but I won't let its performance or reactions affect my thinking for the fifth generation. I feel like a lot of you dislike Black and White already, ridiculously so for some fans, because of you're pre-determined "I'm going to hate these games" and other courses in the past that can change.

I love it, they finally make the protagonists older and instead, people directly attack what they're wearing. (if you honestly think those shorts are revealing or bad, ticket a visit to Florida, you'll find it modest) Or they throw some new ideas into the starters and boy that water-type never had a chance, it seems.

Has Gamefreak let us down many times? Yes, they have, and perhaps that has caused your hatred of new games, because you're expecting to dislike it, to be let down, to play a failure. I don't see it that way, I see every game in their own shade, and Black and White is off to a fine start.

I think based on the reaction of so little information, we've subconsciously created clunkers-in-making. I doubt it even matters what Gamefreak does at this point, they'll get attacked. The "they're running out of ideas" never, ever gets old for you all. It's old for me, think of something else.

I challenge you to erase the past, that bitter taste in your mouth, your already-set thinking, look toward Black and White with a refreshed view. You might even like something. You don't have to set your expectations high, but don't set them so low that you're killing the games before you give them a chance.

My question: if you already do dislike the fifth generation, or dislike it to a large degree at the moment, but are open to future updates, what is the real reason behind it? Why do you dislike it? Don't tell me you hate those shorts because they're too small, because we had a disproportional, 2inch mini-skirt last time, and that was far, far worse.

PS. apparently I am the only member that likes Mijumaru. *sigh*

<+supermarth64> at least nintendo's learning
<+supermarth64> shorter skirts/shorts means more people buy it

Anyway, because I know this blog was directed at me among others, gen 4 ruined pokemon in more ways than one. The bad designs didn't help. I have little hope for gen 5.

STEALTH ICE!!!

*disclaimer* I am not supermarth64 */disclaimer*

I'll expand on these because you asked:

if you already do dislike the fifth generation, or dislike it to a large degree at the moment, but are open to future updates, what is the real reason behind it?
Because the designs have gotten progressively worse, gen 3 was "okay" gen 4 was -vomit-. Gen 5 is going to be [/wrists]. Also, the otter looks sad and emo. I can't play with an ugly sad otter. :(
Why do you dislike it?
Maybe its because I have been playing pokemon since I was 7 years old. The same story every time. Little deviation, mindless mini-games and mandatory side-quests to make them more "fun" when infact all i want to do is beat the elite four so that i can do battle tower, NOT take 25 years to make it past the third gym because I had to travel all over <region> doing stuff I would normally never do and would skip. Its like, they try TOO hard, and end up making it worse than moral. The absurd amount of censorship is also ruining it. (inb4miniskirtandshortscomments) I mean, no slot machines? WHY? BECAUSE IT PROMOTES GAMBLING. IN THE GAME CORNER. Well, I sure as hell hope it does. Voltorb Flip or whatever the hell they had in HGSS is still gambling. A rose by any other name is still a rose. They took the guy outside of Celadon Gym, to "protect the kids". For CHRIST'S SAKE, I'm almost certain kids who play pokemon when they are 7 think girls have cooties and are icky. If they are 12+ they know they are supposed to like girls by then. The way the games just drag on too. I mean, platinum took longer than anything I have ever done before. It was ass boring, the bad guys were terribad. Everything about it sucked. Hell, if it wasn't for some of the competitive stuff they added, I would be playing on NetBattle.
[/rant]

I hope thats enough of an elaboration for anyone who questsions my reasoning.

I have base 20 speed. :<

Anyway, I thought I was going to hate these games at first too. Then I saw the scans and said to myself, "You know, I'm OK with this. Because honestly, what makes Gen I and II designs better than these?" I couldn't find a reason. So, my mind is open to whatever Black and White throws at me.

Funny that no one has complained about this short clothing before (or at least I've never seen any):

>_>

Btw Gamer, I'm sure it wasn't Game Freak's fault for making it more child friendly.

They'll keep making them as long as it's making money. It's why games like Hannah Montana get released on like every console but the 360.

I like the new pokemon. It looks fun!

First off, we don't even know the storyline yet, we've seen 5 pokemon or so and some screenshots as well as one or two names thrown about. What I don't understand is how someone can judge a game on that alone. So I have to agree with Ryan in questioning why or how people have gotten into their heads that they hate the games already when we've pretty much seen very little.

Sure the games look different from what we're used to be,
well done gamefreak for not doing the same thing over and over again. Do we as pokemon fans really want that? What was good about the very fist games was that Pokemon was entirely new, now it's old boots so why not mix it up a bit and extend the boundries on what goes into a pokemon game. We've wanted something astounding, now why be hypocritical and write it off before it even hits the shelves?

You see, the problem is, there's a lot of fans out there who are blending their lack of patience with how close minded they can be, I say; give it a chance to get off it's feet before you send it into oblivion in your head. Do we really want to be playing D/P/P & HG/SS style games over and over again?

What makes me laugh is the fact that once the Zoro's were released everyone was so hyped up about the game and their expectations sky rocketed. We
all want something different in a game, there's a reason no two people play it the same way. I keep an open mind about almost everything and despite the enclosed feelings I have about the games I'm optimistic, I'm looking forward to it and most of all I have an open mind for what's to come. Just because three pokemon aren't as striking as you had hoped to be doesn't mean anything. In my opinion the starters are the most mundane pokemon anyway as they just become typical after you play a game a few times. The only thing that will ruin B&W is negitivity.

As for the mini-skirt, lol Dawn did that years ago guys catch up :>

If you don't mind me asking Nica, in what ways? I can sympathize concerning legendaries, but what else killed that... feel? Curious.

Well.. lets see, I started off with gen 2, saw Kanto through there, then later got gen 1. That was all fine. Gen 3 was the brand new area for me - at the time I was about 12 or so... it didn't really affect me. When gen 4 came out, I got it later than others and when I played through - noting that I was like, 15 at the time, it just didn't have the nostalgic appeal. Yeah there's that, BUT, after I started to realise... I didn't want to bother memorising the names, the area was different, items were repeating eachother like amulet coin/luck incense and I just lost interest. I thought HG would make me like Pokemon again, but really, it didn't. The only thing I ever do on it is try and catch Chansey's. For me, HG was a disappointment, yes, for nostalgic reasons... but it wasn't like the original Pokemon. Times changed, Pokemon abilities got overcomplicated, etc, new sprites, I just didn't feel like I was in the world of Pokemon. With gen 5, new starters, new area, new generation or new beginning of Pokemon everyone's saying - even with the new graphics and such... Pokemon has pretty much just lost me now. The only way I'd get one of them is for the new areas (since a few look like what I imagined HG to be, but sadly disappointed) rather than it being Pokemon game. It's kinda hard to explain but... I've just kind of grown out of Pokemon.

I don't really like Zoroark and it's pre-evo mainly because it looks like an eevee/vulpix mix. But I'll honestly say that Black and White are looking better than I thought it would be. The trainers are older, and the female's clothing looks more like clothing a girl will travel in (as I myself would definitely not travel in a skirt. ). I like the starters too, including the otter. :U

I'm actually going to walk into this generation with high hopes. Since 4th Gen was my first time playing Pokemon, I began my whole journey into the Pokemon world with the updated graphics and what people call the "ugly, unwanted Pokemon." But I just don't get the same nostalgic affect while playing the older games, so I don't think that I'll dislike this game. Sure, some things won't float my boat, but I'm definitely not going to shun it because of what people say about 'ugly starters' or a 'whorish' female character [Let the fact stand that I love the starters and the female character is perfectly fine to me.] So, yeah. n_n
