Applying for a job, ugh.

So this morning, I called back one of the employers I applied for a job at. So with my luck, I got ahold of someone, and asked for a manager. Instead of getting transferred to a manager by phone, the person I got a hold of went to go ask the manager instead (who was dealing with a customer). The person on the phone then said that the manager checks applications every Monday and would give me a call back if ready. Keep in mind, though, that I applied for said job online and not in person.

So my question is, when I go looking for the next job, should I still keep applying online, or just go around and ask for job applications? I know it's kinda difficult to get a job in today's economy, but I have to pay for my schooling.

And next question, how long do y'all recommend I wait to call back on the status of my application if I haven't heard back in some time? I'd at least like to have an interview (and a job as well) before the end of the month. Maybe not so much a job before the end of the month, but definitely an interview.

Until next time,
Sevine out~!

Apply online, ask for jobs in person, hand in your CV to companies in case they get vacancies - you can never try too hard so if you want a job that badly and quickly then use all of your options. Applying in person doesn't have many benefits over applying online bar finding out about positions that weren't listed online and sometimes the proactive thing helps, but applying online is just as good in most cases.

As for the current one, don't call them about it. If they call then good, if not then unfortunately you probably didn't get the position. Given that they said they'll handle the calling you should wait for them haha. You can always decline the job before you agree to work there (or any others you apply for) if you happen to get a better offer so don't worry about making sure if a job's secure or not before applying for another - just apply to as many as you can.

I know it's a good idea to call if you've had an interview (like 4 days, I think), but it's not thing you're always supposed to do to call after just the application part. I guess it can't hurt though, as long as you're professional and all that, so maybe wait 4 or 5 days. Since you called about it and found out when they were going to review applications I think that's where you should leave it until (if) they call you in for an interview.

But yeah, apply online if you can. It's easier for you and that's good if you have to apply to 5, 10, or more places before you get someone who will hire you.

It had been a good 2 weeks since my application went through, so that was why I called. And yeah, I'll be looking around for sure :)

Have you applied to any seasonal/christmas jobs? right now is the PERFECT time to apply. I've been through three job interviews so far since Friday and all of the jobs I've interviewed are seasonal and weirdly I applied to all of them since July. :|

You should give it a shot.

Oh yeah, it is that time of year again I see. I'll definitely look for seasonal jobs at the local retailers then :)

And my mother also has me watching for when amazon.com is hiring, since they're close to opening a warehouse in my area

Do both and keep a diary of where and when you applied. If you dont hear back in 2-3 weeks cross them off your list. Don't take a break and keep going even if you get an interview. Only stop when they actually offer you the job.
