Mood: Make the best out of your time, friends.

What happens when you combine a multimedia-videogame giant with a beloved relaxed late artist? Well, apparently one hell of a lot of Internet traffic, that's for sure.

On October 29th of this year, the vastly popular media entity of Twitch.com hosted a marathon of Bob Ross' painting skills to kick off the launch of it's "Twitch Creative" section, which focuses on streaming other creative outlets other than video games. Accumulatively, the stream gathered over 5.6 million viewers, accounting for a very unlikely success story for the Twitch broadcast. As a result, Twitch has acquired a contract with BobRoss Inc. and Janson Media - the combined rights of the Bob Ross name and show - to air Bob Ross episodes every Monday through a season of Bob Ross dubbed "The Joy of Painting."

Daily Music - "There Is Nothing Left" by The Drums
Spoiler:
For readers unfamiliar with Bob Ross, he was an American painter and television host who had his own show - also called "The Joy of Painting" - that ran from January of 1983 to May of 1994 on PBS. Bob Ross was recognized for his very relaxed personality and his artistic skills curating landscape pieces (with yes, lots of trees in them.) The painter's chillaxed personality was a result of his military career, where he held the title of master sergeant and first sergeant of the U.S. Air Force Clinic at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. There was where he became entranced by the snowy mountains and the surreal landscape around him, and also when he decided that if he every left the military, because of the work he dealt with - he held roles which required him to be "mean" and "tough" by screaming at his units - he vowed never to yell again. He died at the age of 52 after battling with diagnosed lymphoma in the early 1990's.

Daily Comic - "Genius" by Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes
Spoiler:
Each Monday from 3PM EST to 9:30PM EST, Twitch will host one season of "The Joy of Painting." On October 29th of each year - i.e. Bob Ross' birthday - Twitch will run an all-episodes marathon of the talented painter in honor of his creative work. Creatively, Twitch has decided to donate part of the revenue gained from the $4.99 subscription rate to the cancer research organization of St. Jude. Twitch has also gained the rights to allow other content creators to pain alongside Bob Ross and combine the stream material with one another.

Daily Video - "The Count Censored" by YouTuber Robin Way
Spoiler:
Twitch currently has no plans to duplicate this unlikely success, but Bob Ross has found himself a home on Twitch as of now. So what do you guys think? Do you think this is a good direction that Twitch is going in by streaming other material besides just video games? Or do you think they are spreading themselves to thin? Did you get a chance to watch some of the Bob Ross stream? Think you might in the future? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!
