It's finally here! The most anticipated weekend since coming to Houston! Comicpalooza 2015!! :D
My weekend only started on Thursday, beginning with early prep as well as tidying up my loft so I can leave home without worrying that it's dirty. Plus I did some laundry so I don't have to worry about what the hell to wear for the convention! Later on after that, I headed to the convention center to pick up my volunteer supplies...like my badge, my complimentary backpack, survival kit (containing hand sanitizer, tissues, bag of water, etc.) and pre-purchased my parking pass so I don't have to spend $12 A DAY to park. (that's almost $50 D: and I only paid $21).
Friday...day started at exactly 5 am for me. I needed to be at the convention center by 8 am for my first volunteer shift at the Will Call booth. Traffic started at around 6:30 am when I left my place, and did not get to the parking lot until before 7:30, so I made really good timing as I got to the Convention Center 15 minutes till. I was really amazed that there were already people waiting to pick up their badges in that early hour, and we didn't open until 9 am.
My boyfriend wasn't planning to arrive to the con until an hour before the Dealers/Vendors/Artists Alley hall opens at around 12 noon. My shift ended at 1, so I would be able to meet up by then.
Meanwhile during my first shift at the Will Call booth, everything went super smooth! The coordinators were really caring and wanted to be sure if things were swell and that we're having a fun time. Time went by really quick! It felt like I zipped through five hours, in five minutes. xD Sooo many people wearing amazing costumes as I gave them their badges. Lots of Spiderman's, Deadpools, Iron Man's, and so many more. My most favorite was Hawkeye, primarily because Jeremy Renner is in Houston and is going to appear at the con TOMORROW OMFG.
After my shift ended, I was free to explore around the convention, and met up with my boyfriend at Artists Alley. We did... SO MUCH SHOPPING. He bought five Amiibos to add to his current collection of Amiibos that he has at his apartment. I bought a customized MLP bag that had both Vinyl Scratch and Flutterbat, as well as a KISS Catman plushie. bf didn't have any room to store his amiibos, so I had to give him my Pokemon tote bag that I had bought for this convention. That's okay, I'll buy another.
He also ended up buying a collectible Iron Man Mark 39 customizable figurine.
You know how much he spent on that? $289. Yep. He literally just surpassed me as a compulsive shopper. I mentioned that Stan Lee (the supreme overlord of superhero comics) was going to be doing an autograph signing hour later on in the afternoon, and it was $70 for the autograph. He wanted to get his Iron Man figurine signed by Stan Lee, and decided to go for it...having to join the hundreds of people already lining up to get his autograph too. But it was worth it. Getting up close with Stan Lee was the "omg" moment of the day for me at the con. And sharing with someone was freaking amazing. <3 To this moment I am still pretty starstruck!
My day at the convention ended at around 6:30, as the bf and I took a stroll around Discovery Green (one of Houston's greeniest parks around), and then decided to head on home as we rest up for the day tomorrow morning.
Saturday is going to be pretty epic. After my second shift at the Will Call booth, bf and I are planning to attend a Q&A session for Peter Mayhew (actor who played Chewbacca from the Star Wars movies) and hopefully make it to the autograph session for George Takei! So freaking excited for that!! More shopping, more exploring, and more fun! :D
Now to rest, because I'll be up at 5 am once again!~ Will post pics on Day 4!
