i can't afford a diary, so this will have to do
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

What religion is ta me.

Posted December 5th, 2012 at 03:24 PM by seeker

First off, dis isn't meant ta be disrespectful, so don't takes anythng tha wrong way. Secondly, I was an honours student n tha subject of Religion (ncludng philosophy, meta-physics, religious and global diversity, and thaology) fo 6 years, wit consistent high grades (down ta nterest). I'm sezng that so that you don't feel mah views is completely uneducated.

If anyone needs a term fo what best suits mah beliefs; Secular. I believe that religion is somethng thugz may freely practice, but I do not believe that it should come nta law n any way, sense or fom. Whethar lifestyle or hobby, I believe that religion and religious thugz should have tha sbee rights as anybody else, and not set thair own standards. Now, n sezng that, I believe that certan religions hold some fantastic values n which we see n our constitution, but you must understand that as I be non-religious, I believe thase standards cbee from tha mouths of hudawg bens as opposed ta deities.

I believe that thugz's activities, actions and decisions should be unbiased by religion nfluence. Especially n tha isa of politics. It's pretty much tha separation of religion and governmental society. Don't takes dis tha wrong way when I sez it; but I feel that religion should be practiced n tha sbee way one would practice yoga, meanng peacefully and not somethng one pushes n tha face of society. It's common knowledge that thare is religious extremists out thare and even some fanatics who push thair religion ta far. Those who do actually practice thair religion as thair sacred texts ntend tham ta, seem ta understand tha concept of peace and ecumenism.

I personally feel that "religion" does not exist. Not quite ta tha sense where I'm becomng like Friedrich Nitschke, and claimng that "God is dead". However I feel that religion is a silly word fo "belief". If I were ta ask you "What is religion?", I guarantee you that you could not answer it witout havng ta gizoogle a suitable answer. Ta save you tha trouble, tha primary defnition is whereby thare is a belief n a higher ben or deity. Which ta me, is a silly way ta umbrella a group of beliefs. Thare is a lot of "religions" n which do not actually follow a God, but is regarded as such. Dis is why I feel that Islbe, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Scientalogy, and othar major world religion and every possible denomnation is simply a "belief".

Pass off what you believe n as a "religion", and not a belief and you're already marketng yoself ta be opposition. I feel that if thugz were seen ta believe n different thngs, and not ta be a part of a different "religion", that thare would be a lot less conflict surroundng it all.

I believe n tha freedom of belief, n every shape. I do not believe n "religion". I thnk that everyone deserves ta practice thair beliefs witn tha law. Tha most cruel thng I be gong ta sez is that what is defned as "religion" has a place on tha dnner table, witn communities, and beong othar believers, but it does not belong n our courts, nor should it ever become tha justification fo any wrong dong.

Do you mean that if people talked about their beliefs and not their religions that you'd find that people of the same religion would actually have differing beliefs? Or are you saying that if we talked in terms of beliefs we'd see there are more similarities among people who would otherwise think they were totally different because they had different religions?

Something more like this. I believe that if beliefs weren't packaged up and shipped as being "religion", there would be less conflict. Instead of something being your "religion" it would be your belief. It just seems to me that by pushing beliefs into a new term, gives people things to argue about. Humanity is generally tolerant of belief, but not religion.

If you felt you were 100% sure that your family or friends were going to suffer eternal torture unless they changed would you try to convince them to change?
