NEED HELP WITH CRITICAL DECISION!

Hey PC! I need your help in making a decision that will impact the fate of my entire future (or at least one Saturday in September and about $71 of my savings).

Now, there is a "Sci-fi/Anime" convention coming up in the nearest big city to me on the third week of September. I went to this same event last year, and sadly found that the "sci-fi" elements vastly outweighed the "anime" elements (nothing against sci-fi but y'all probably know which of the two I'm going there for). However, I am going through "convention withdrawl" and it is a good opportunity to get out of the house for a day (heaven knows I need to get out and do something apart from my family BADLY). Also, last year when I went was the first year for this convention, so I am hoping that this year they end up streamlining things a bit.

So, my question is simple. Is spending $71 (for transportation, meals, and admission combined) worth it to attend this thing on a Saturday? Or do you think that the history of it being more sci-fi oriented last year makes it a bad deal for me?

P.S. Vic Mignogna is scheduled to be there if that would sway anyone's decision in either direction. Note that he is the ONLY anime-related special guest scheduled, however.

The fact that you care about it enough to ask other people probably means it's worth the $71. Unless you're particularly tight on money.

Alright thanks! And this is money I've been setting aside specifically for this convention, and it's not like I have anything else to spend it on atm. I am planning a mini-vacation for my birthday, but that's being set aside separately. If I end up buying the next Pokemon games, it'll probably be connected to my birthday funds.

But you should seriously look up conventions that specialize in anime near you next year.
I know there is one "primarily anime" one coming up in my area, problem is that it's next March and I can't wait that long for my convention fix :P And these two are the only local ones that I know of.

Damn, I hate where I live :/

Bad deal if you didn't enjoy it being sci-fi oriented, because it'll most likely end up that way again. Consistency is a good and bad thing at the same time, unfortunately.

Really don't like Vic. He's a total douche. Met him at Mechacon last year/year before...may have been both....He YELLED at an Edward Elric Cosplayer (The best Edward Elric Cosplayer) when she asked him for his autograph. He's fairly well known for his temper and horrible behavior.

Though if YOU don't want to go, don't think you'll have fun, then no its not worth wasting money. Go only if you think you'll have fun cause that's all you'd need to care about.

I've heard/read that about Vic... people either seem to love him or hate him, and he can be quite temperamental. I "saw" him at Anime Weekend Atlanta in '10 but he was surrounded by so many fanboys/girls I wasn't even gonna waste time waiting for an autograph.

Anyway, getting out of the house and into the city would make it worth it enough for me... if anything I can save the $15 con admission and get myself an extra manga volume or something with it instead.
