Alright, so I'm 17 now and at this age I've got to start learning to drive better before I get my lisence. Now in Florida I could have gotten my lisence since I turned 16, but that's my fault for slacking. So today, my dad pulled up home after work and dropped me the keys to our Mercedes SUV.

At first I was like, "What are these for?" and all he did was smile. When he finally told me I was going to drive now and then, I was like shocked at first, but it isn't like I drove a few times before when I was a bit younger.

When we got into the vehicle, I felt a bit nervous because I knew it was going to rain soon and I hadn't experienced driving in the rain before. [/There's a first for everything I guess]. Anyway, I got in the driver's side of the vehicle, checked the mirrors, checked the back and looked at the road ahead.

I held the brakes down, shifted the SUV to drive and begun my destiny to the pitch forks below. It was a bit shaky at the start as I was nervous and the wind shield wipers got a little distracting, but I tried my best to ignore them. There were a few times I had to make some turns, and I had to watch out for the corners or else I would have driven over them. If you can tell or not, I was a bit skeptical on turns because it is hard to coordinate how much to turn and all.

Well, not too long after, I pulled up and parked up. My dad complimented me and said I was doing a good job. I got out, took a stretch, and couldn't believe I lived through it to tell the story.

A few minutes later, the rain started coming down a bit harder, so I was growing more frantic about driving in the rain with the wipers so annoying a bit. When, I started again I wasn't so paranoid as I think I got used to the feeling of it fast. I shifted into drive once more, and drove back to where we started from home. I took the turns a lot better than first [/it had to be nerves before, because I could tell I was handling the vehicle better on the road]. The wipers, I learned to focus more on what was at the side of me, infront of me, and behind me, so it wasn't distracting anymore.

When I finally drove up to the front door of the house, my dad complimented me once more. "Got to keep up the practice," he said before walking inside. I held the keys in my hands, smiled, and steadily paced myself back inside as well.

I guess I lived through my driving experience today, and I know there will be more to come as time progresses on. So, I'll keep you posted on how much better I get the next time around or so.
