This is the last entry for the challenge theme of 'VG music with string instruments'. So please throw a new challenge at me in the comments after listening to this entry! Doesn't have to be video game music either, just needs to be a theme for me to try and come up with some matching songs for.

I had a few other ideas for which song to use for this entry, but then decided to go with this one by impulse, because it's in a game I've been playing for the last week. =p In my defence, it's a pretty darn fun one. It's called Bravely Default, and is a Square Enix title for the 3DS. It came out in Europe and Australia but still has a couple months until its release for you Americans. It plays like older Final Fantasy games (e.g. FF3 and FF5). Neat battles, long gameplay, amusing characters...

...but that's enough advertising about it. =p I'll just get to the tune. The video has a nice HD option that I advise selecting.

Alternate link!

This tune, titled 'That Person's Name is...', is used in a bunch of boss battles in which you can acquire someone's job afterwards, e.g. White Mage. If only it was that easy to get a job. The main instrument is the violin, and there's also the drum beat and electric guitar as significant instruments. The latter is used to link together different segments, but it's not always used - sometimes you get a short pause here and there. I suppose in a sense the song is stop-start, which is somewhat unusual for video game tunes, as they loop over and over. For instance, there's a slight pause at 0:50, and following the sole use of the organ at the end of the loop there is another. But it works out well enough in-game. And it certainly works as a boss theme!

I quite like how the violin and electric guitar mesh together in the song, especially in the most frantic segment at 2:15 to about 2:47. Easily my favourite part of the tune. Sometimes it's a bit distracting from the battle itself. =p

Anyways, I trust that's a substantial set of responses for the challenge. Was fun, have to say!

This makes me want to buy a sword and go outside and run around battling imaginary enemies. It's a rather epic theme and I really do want to get up and move to it. I think this was an excellent closer to the challenge; thanks for taking it on, and great job choosing all of the amazing songs! :3c

Hey, we need to beat you in getting games at least some of the time, especially seeing we pay more for them. =p

I suppose the 21-minute video of the tune is good for assignments, heh.
