Gym Progression

So yeah.. I joined a gym back in mid November. I thought it was time to stop feeling sorry about myself. I work a desk job, and most of my friends have families (can't go out), so I get little to none physical activity.. and I decided to change that. I've been going 2-3 times a week since then.. (average is I guess 2.)

I have tried to keep with workout programs before, and I could never stick with them, I guess because I was focusing so much on losing weight. It was disheartening to see others that were already taller and thinner than me losing more inches/ weight off them than me with half the effort I was putting in (and I'd never cut down on my nutrition.) I know I shouldn't have compared since we're all different, but I did anyways.
I used to be pretty chubby in highschool, so I guess I've always just been hard on myself. Before I joined the gym, I wouldn't have said I was particularly fat, but I wasn't happy with myself at all.

This time I decided to say.. well.. screw that. I'm weak and I'm going to build up my strength. I'm tired of struggling to carry groceries a 10 minute walk from the store. I'm going to focus on my health more- especially now that I have an office job.
I don't have any before pictures I feel comfortable with showing (not now anyways.. I feel too embarrassed even though it's the recent past.)
But I feel comfortable enough now to show some:

Spoiler:

It feels really weird because I was ALWAYS really self-conscious about showing off my belly. I don't even own a bikini! Just 1-peice bathing suits!
Anyways, I just wanted to blog my progress as I'm finally pretty content with it. I am going to keep it up to keep my fitness levels up and keep myself healthy... and I just wanted to share my personal success with you all.

PC's MEETUP VENDAK EDITION!
I also met with Vendak a few months back.. I think it was.. what? 3 Months or so! It was really fun! Mr. Catdog and Vendak and I went around London in Camden Town and then to look for some nice teas. :3 I really enjoyed it! Sadly I only had one pic of us both and where it doesn't have horrible flash (I hate flash SO much..) so it's a bit dark! But I wanted to share it anyway!!!
Spoiler:

Ahh memories! :3 Was good fun and we are definitely going to meet up again! We found a great pub near Covent Gardens so we will hopefully hit that again!~

Guess that's all for now, PC!

Wow, you're looking like you're in great shape there Kura, very impressive! So what kind of workouts and stuff do you do at the gym?

Thanks!
Mostly weights, if I'm honest.
I will do usually 5 minutes on the rowing machine (if they are taken, then 5 minutes on the Cross-Trainer/Elliptical at a high resistance) to warm up.
Then I do a bunch of free weights with the arms over a yoga ball.. I forget the names of them.. uh.. dumbbell pullover? Like a chest press one? Or sometimes I will do seated row to target my upper back. So that's triceps, biceps and upper back.
Then I do Squat presses. Then 1 Legged Bridge for my legs and glutes.
Then a back extension, and I just started a type of crunch with the machine (dunno what it's called either.) Sometimes I will do calf-exercises or hip adductor exercises to strengthen because the podiatrist recommended them to me to strengthen my legs.

The whole workout takes about 35-40 minutes I guess? I might skip on a few of those but I try to get them all in. I'll also go for the occasional swim instead of hitting the gym.. but I might go once every 2 weeks.

The gym also has free classes and I tried a pilates one on Saturday which was pretty good. I enjoyed it!

Pretty much the opposite of me then who focuses mostly on cardiovascular stuff, though I do push ups, crunches, leg raises and a bunch of other exercises like that too.

I couldn't say that I'm more impressed. Thats fantastic! You look fantastic but the best thing that you now have confidence in yourself and how you look. Maybe pc should pool together and buy you your first bikini as a celebration.

Damn girl, that takes some dedication, I'm impressed and happy for you! Sorta surprised that you don't own a bikini, you should totally invest in one soon. With that beach bod, you'd totally rock it.

And yay, another PC Meetup! Sounds like it was fun, I'm jealous. :c

This blog makes me want to go back to working out. Ughhhh

Much delayed response because I rarely click on anyone's blog XD But...

Way to go! :D Congrats and keep at it~

I'm thinking of picking up swimming weekly (which I think I told you before? But school go in the way. Now I no longer have school which means nothing at all on my weekends, so I've got time to kill), so hopefully I'll be thinner next time I see you. We can swap stories lol

*thumbs up*
