What's wrong with PokeCommunity?

Allow me to rant for a bit.

You may have noticed that I have been absent for a while, and back but still very inactive.

I've been on another forum, <REDACTED>.

I really liked it there, and I could only see just how bad PC was compared with those forums.

Thing is, I really like PokeCommunity, but there's just so much I'd like to see changed.

1. Other Trivia. This section is just... sigh. I really don't have any idea what's going on here most of the time, and this appears to be the only place for "games", but full of pointless "games" that require you to learn how to count. It's like we're a kids' forum! Oh wait. Is there really a need for this subforum?

2. Spinoff Games. Where the heck is the love for these games? I really want a comprehensive collection of threads detailing every aspect of some of these games, particularly PMD and Pokemon Rumble Blast. But all that's there is, some newb makes a thread asking whether a game is a good idea, and everybody disses that game and newb's like okay then. Come on.

3. Signatures. They're a pain in the neck to look at. My other forum has them limited to 500x80, with spoiler tags. If you have a lot of annoying crap, you can just shove it in the spoiler. The result is a very neat, easy to read, thread format. But here, I get page-stretching CSS that, while pretty, is not very useful and fills up space, detracting from the actual content. Of course, I have them disabled, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

4. What is there to do here? I do challenges and ROM Hacks, but I really can't see anything else to do here. I'd like to talk about pokemon, but it's difficult to, because of the unwieldy forum layout. I wouldn't even know where to start. (this is not necessarily a problem, just a question I'd like answered by many diverse members of PC).

5. Games. In the Pokemon Trivia subforum, especially. The games there are very juvenile, insipid even. I was looking forward to starting a few mafia games, but I can see now that it just wouldn't fit amidst all the babbling. Also, I'd like to see well-constructed games like Tabletop RPGs, Duels, and roleplaying with a bit more focus on mechanics.

Again, this is just me blowing off steam so feel free to hate me forever. I'm not really going to be around much for you to hate, anyways.

1. You don't have to go there if it offends you so much. Seriously, just steer clear of the Trivia forums. I do, and as such they don't bother me.

2. You want a 'comprehensive collection of threads', etc? Then make them yourself. They're not going to magically materialise by themselves, and anybody else who's thinking about it probably just can't be bothered. Set an example if you want to change things.

3. Disable the- oh, wait. You have? Then what are you complaining about? -_-

4. I honestly can't see what you're on about here. The forum layout is quite simple, really. General Pokemon Gaming is right there, as well as separate forums for each generation/group of games. You want a messy forum layout, go to Serebii. I have to scroll for half an hour to get to the fanfiction section there.

5. Err . . . see 1? If you don't find a forum interesting, don't go there. For example, I'm not a fan of the Other Chat forum, so I just don't visit it. As a result, I live a blissfully OC-free life and I'm none the worse for it.

As far as mafia games, I know BinaryPeaches and Netto Azure were considering putting them in OT for a while, I'm not sure where they are on that. You should PM one of them if that's what you're interested in.

I find your point of view interesting because over the past few days I've been visiting other forums just to see how they are and I've been greatly disappointed with all the forums other than PC. While sometimes I get annoyed by the signatures here, I found that I missed them on BMGf, which is stricter on signatures, because a glance at someone's theme usually told me who they were.

Make them yourself then? Be the change you wish to see. However, good luck with it. Try all you want, but people will talk about spin offs when they wanna talk about them. And unfortunately, it's not too often. Most spin offs are hit or miss with people. For me, it's mostly miss, unless we're talking about older spin offs and Colo/XD.

#4: despite being unwieldy at times, I like the options for varieties of discussions at this site. Keep in mind that most large boards are quite unwieldy in there layouts, no matter the central focus, because they tend to pick up several topics of discussion over their lifetimes as they get larger. Every large board I've been to can be a bit cumbersome to navigate, and I've been to plenty of large boards over my 7 years of experience online.

Also, all roleplays go into the Roleplaying Corner.

Unless you want to go for a less serious roleplay that doesn't quite meet the requirements of the Roleplay Corner, in which case you would want to talk with the moderators of the Trivia sections.
