Well, that's what I heard!

Today an article came out in my hometown paper that was very... upsetting. It reported that someone that I know was charged with some misdemeanors/felonies that I won't go into details about.

Like any small town the news spread like wildfire and appeared on my Twitter timeline hence how I found out about it. People were saying all these bizarre things so I went and looked up the article for myself, which was misleading. The wording of the article made it sound a lot worse than it actually was plus it didn't really tell any of the story. Granted since I know the kid charged and I know most of the situation (not all) I knew it wasn't as bad as they were making it out to be. Anyway, I got back on Twitter tonight after doing loads of homework (yay) to see this guy lying about why said guy was arrested and even his charges. He was telling people he was arrested for viewing child pornography and had it all on his computer (which is the furthest thing from the actual charges!) Of course people were eating this up like it was the holy bible. Then people started joking about the situation and twisting the words of the article around to fit their "fun". Honestly, it was sickening. Do people not realize what they're doing? First off, they don't know the whole story because half of these kids don't even go to High School anymore (seriously they're like 20/21/22). I didn't even tweet about it and I know way more than they do.

Just because you hear something doesn't mean that it's automatically a fact nor should it be taken as such. I wish that they would think about their actions before saying things they know nothing about. This is a kid's life they're ripping into and joking about, that's not funny. Do people not care about how these rumors/jokes/stories are going to affect (effect?) the kid? My heart seriously goes out to him and I know that tomorrow's going to be absolute hell for him.

sorry about being vague but I felt it was best.
