Ok so I was reading a conversation between Vrai and colcolstyles (inb4 get a life fag). colcolstyles was telling Vrai to act more like a moderator and stop commenting on peoples hacks, I was like lol epic trolllll and was looking for a way to give him rep (even though we don't have it anymore), when I realised that people actually think that don't they?

Most moderators, the ones in emulation at least, seem completely detached from the community (no offence if you mod there), except for the new ones (its early days yet *_*).

I hate love Vrai. But seriously, I don't know what to think of this topic. Do we do a Christos and just supervise. Or do we make ourselves actual members, who join in the community and supervise still? Idk what to do.

I'm sorry Thrace but I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. I didn't tell Jake to "stop commenting on peoples hacks", as you put it. I was merely stating an observation of mine, and that is that I've noticed that Vrαi, along with Alice., doesn't moderate Emulation in the same way that I've grown accustomed to.
Also, if you would have read the next VM I sent to him (and that's not an excuse for you to go nosing through my conversations, thankyouverymuch), you'd see that I value a moderator who has a down-to-earth personality. That's what makes Jake so much more approachable, something that I can't say about the previous Emulation mods, yourself included. In fact, it gets to the point where you're so professional, I fear you. Do you have any idea how long it took me to work up the courage to compliment you on the map you submitted to the HotM? Or that comment on that xkcd comic in your album? And I once spent upwards of fifteen minutes writing a simple VM to Hiroshi Sotomura asking if I had submitted my entry to the Get-Together Mapping Competition in time for it to be counted, reading over it dozens of times just to make sure I hadn't made any spelling mistakes that would embarrass me in front of one of the people I respect most on these forums. And if that's not enough, I've literally spent about half an hour writing this blog comment, just so that I don't make a fool of myself.

So it's up to the new moderators. They can either sacrifice a little professionalism to become friendly, approachable mods, or they can sacrifice any display of emotion and become a moderator that is respected and revered to the point where my heart skips a beat when I see a comment by them on my profile. Because frankly, I haven't seen much middle ground.

I totally agree with you colcolstyles. That was the point of this post actually. XD

I hated how cold and to-the-point I'd become when I was a mod (maybe not at the start but closer to the end). That wasn't because I thought that was how a mod should act. I just had a lot going on in my life and it felt like PC was getting in the way.

Malin, you make a good point.
Maybe Jake and Harry haven't been hit by the same mind ray that Christos was hit with, and haven't had their brains turned to mush.
