Perhaps I'm not getting it, but why do people like Breaking Bad?

Breaking Bad isn't that good of a show, at least not in the first season (I've watched the first five episodes of season one). I don't see why people like this show so much, what is it PC?

I've never seen it but 5 episodes of one season is generally too little to make a very sound judgement on an entire series. Some of my favorite series only pick up after 10-11 episodes.

Which is why I suggest googling when it gets "good". If most people say later in the first season that would explain it; if not, it's just not your thing. I knew those shows didn't get good until 10 episodes in so I had no problem watching the first 10.

I'm not a big fan of the first season. It's a necessary evil to set up the characters, but the pacing is completely off in comparison to the later ones. Stick with it and when you get to the end of season 2, you'll be justly rewarded!

Even if it's good after the first season, why sit through a whole season of not-good when there are things that are good from the start?

I think that 5 episodes is a good enough number (for me) because most people tune out if the show isn't good after one episode. If the rest of the season (and show) is the same pace and boring I'd not watch it. I guess you're a lot more patient than I am to wait 10 episodes for a show to get good. I don't know many shows (that I personally liked) that haven't hooked me right from the beginning and Breaking Bad just isn't do that for me.

Yeah, it's kinda okay. It's not completely boring but it's like "meh". I think I can sit through the rest of this season and the next if I know that it does get better at some point.

I havent seen it but maybe it's like me and scrubs... it just doesn't entertain me.

I never understood why people liked Scrubs so much either. I honestly thought that was such a boring show.

It's a show you definitely have to be in the right mindset to watch.

Personally, I like it, for a bunch of reasons. But mostly because it delivers a relatively accurate representation of drug addiction and the drug world (the things that are supposed to be about drugs, that is. Not the part where planes crash everywhere and epic gun battles or whatever).

But I can totally see why Breaking Bad would turn a lot of people off. It's kind of hard to swallow, and it's not all that entertaining if you're not feeling it.
