I never thought I'd say this since I live in Kansas

Posted November 5th, 2011 at 08:12 PM by Sammi

But there was an earthquake. Apparently a 5.2 somewhere in Oklahoma. Shook the apartment for like 3 seconds. It was so mild I was like "...not sure if earthquake or if neighbors are roughhousing downstairs. :s" Then I saw my sister talk about it over Twitter and I was like "I'll be damned."

This wasn't my first -- I lived in Japan when I was a kid. There was one that happened like a month after we'd moved there. I remember looking out the window and watching stuff shake. I wasn't a smart kid. :p

Anyone else in the Midwest feel it?

Another earthquake smack in the middle of the US? There was also another earthquake in Texas a while ago, and apparently the northerners felt this one.

Well, then again, it also looks like you're on a fault line, but you have it easier than the silly Californians.

It was upgraded to 5.6 biggest in state history(that is recorded). We had another one 4.0 at 3:39 this morning I believe. And the night before we had one 4.7 at 2:19 in the morning. Pretty crazy considering I live in OK. Must of have celebrating OSU victory of Kansas State xD.

I heard it was felt that far out as well. Maybe someone wasn't happy about football last night?

After some quick Googling, it sounds like we have the Humboldt Fault to blame. I knew there was a fault nearby our town (they had to fix our dam just in case of major earthquakes) but I'd never bothered to look it up until 5 minutes ago. Didn't know it stretched over 3 states. :p

They upgraded it? It went from like 5.8 to 5.2 last night.

As someone that lives in Manhattan, I am not sure if I should say "oh snap" or sadface at you. XD

    Only a 5.2? I don't get out of bed for anything less than a 6.0. /is a silly Californian

But you're probably not prepared for these things over there. D:

Kansas and Oklahoma aren't exactly known for earthquakes. This is exciting news for us. XD; It was really weak when it reached me but it caught me so off-guard I had to blog. I honestly never expected to feel another earthquake again.

Some of my co-workers didn't either. But they were also drunk...
