Mystery at the Lighthouse!

This episode just doesn't work for me. I'm not sure what it is. Actually, yes I am. It's the damn ending. So, the crew end up at Bill's awesome research lighthouse and it turns out he's been waiting for this mysterious Pokémon to appear. Okay, so far so good. Then, with perfect timing, it arrives and, with the worst timing, Team Rocket also arrive and scare it off with rocket launchers. Fine, setting up the climactic fight....

Only, it doesn't happen. Team Rocket get owned by Dragonite, who also attacks Bill for no reason. Then, it wanders off and is never seen again. Leading me to question, what was the point? It seems like the writers said, "Okay, Ash caught a Krabby, now lets fill the rest of the episode with random bits from the games and have everyone make long stupid speeches to fill up the time". Not a filler episode, but half of it was entirely useless. The useful bits? Ash catches a Krabby, Ash realises there's lots of Pokémon and he doesn't have that many, Ash finds out that gary is ahead of him. That takes about five minutes of the episode, maybe less. The rest is just...aarrggh. I know I'm ranting, so I'll cut off here, but it just makes me sad that they were already reaching for the filler material. Here, as usual, is the ELOT:

I always felt the same.

Bill was so engrossed in that Dragonite, and it was supposed to be so mysterious and awesome, and.. they just let it walk off. "Byeeee, Mysteriously awesome Pokemon that we'll never have a chance to see again.~ 8D"
