So, over the weekend I attempted to port forward my modem in order to host netplay matches for a game I play. Unfortunately I didn't know anything about port forwarding, so I messed it all up and at the same time managed to block off my wireless internet. This sparked some pretty bad reactions from my mother and brother. They pestered me to get everything back on track, and after numerous calls from our ISP...oh wait.

They told us we had to call the manufacturers of our modem. How delightful. Just what I wanted to hear.

So we called them and they walked us through the process of tidying up our wireless net...the unfortunate thing?

The process was pretty much exactly the same process as our ISP said to do. Then my mum told me that she had to pay $139 for something I didn't know about, and that was likely the cause of the whole thing.

tl;dr ran through hoops to fix something that was otherwise extremely easy.

Port forwarding shouldn't affect your Wi-Fi at all. Did you do something wrong when you tried to forward the ports?

I'm honestly not sure. I fiddled around a bit is all o.o. My mum did mention something about the modem or something running out, not sure what ran out, but after she paid money to renew it, it worked. I probably made an oopsie though. :<
