Okay so first off, I apologize for posting two blog entries within the same day. I would have simply updated the previous blog, but I didn't see how this topic was going to fit well with Tumblr's Reaction to Tony Abbott.

Not to mention that analyzing a new generation kinda deserves its own entry haha. Here we go anyways.

So I was there, like everyone else, dying to see the January 8th Direct. I was actually expecting RSE remakes, and I was psyched. When it started, and Iwata was running through the history of the Pokemon franchise, it was pretty clear to me that he was going to announce the 6th generation. And when he did, I think I fainted for a few minutes. Then I just kinda got up and headed straight to the PokeCommunity X & Y sub-forum to discuss this amazing turn of events. I was psyched, honestly. Generation 6. It was gonna take a while for that to sink in properly. So here's what I think about everything they've revealed about the games so far:

3D
I have to be honest here. When I was younger, playing Pokemon Colosseum had me wondering about when we'd be able to play the main series games in full 3D. I was really eager to be able to run freely in a world unrestricted by grid movements and sprites. However, as I moved forward in Pokemon gaming, generation by generation I started to question that a 3D Pokemon game would be a good idea. I had gotten so used to the classic Pokemon experience that I was actually pretty terrified of change. I wasn't sure that we were ready for such a move that would forever change the way we looked at Pokemon games.

But then came X & Y, and I just have to commend Gamefreak for the genius way they went about thrusting us into 3D Pokemon gaming. The 3D in X & Y is simply fantastic, for a single reason: If you think about it, these games aren't %100 3D. At least not in terms of current generation video games.

What I mean is that instead of taking one huge step that would take us from BW-esque to Colosseum-esque visuals, we've taken what I think can be called a half-step. And by all means, I welcome this change with open arms and a greeting heart.

Also, the battle system looks absolutely spectacular.

New Pokemon
With every new generation, we can expect a new arsenal of Pokemon. When I first saw the Unova Pokemon, I hated them. However, with time I grew to like them. No, love them.
The case is different with X & Y though. From day 1 I have been utterly in love with these things. The starters, the legendaries, and everything in between are amazing. [On a side-note, I'm starting to think that Oorotto is a Sudowoodo evolution. Idk. Their names even sound similar.]

One of my favorite aspects of the X & Y Pokemon however, has to be the well-deserved attention they've given to previous generations. With the new Eeveelution and Mega Evolutions (also possibly Oorotto), I am a very happy Poke-geek. Well played Gamefreak, well played.

Mega Evolutions
I'm actually loving these. I'm loving them a lot.

Uuuuhhh, yeah.

Trainer Customization
I think I can fairly say, WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. FOREVER.
They've done well.

The Fairy-Type
I don't really have any opinions about this. I mean I kinda like it and think it could be a good addition to the games. Ok that's probably an opinion but whatever.

Battle System
When I saw the battle system in X & Y during the initial trailer, I screamed. Finally, a 3D battling system. Finally.
Not just that either, Sky Battles are a great addition, Horde Encounters are pretty interesting as well. The battle animations. Everything about this new system is making my bones sizzle. <3

Riding Pokemon
I don't know why, but even though I've never really thought about this in the past, I kinda feel that I've always wanted it. So yeah, loving that too.

Super Training
I don't know much about this, but it sounds entertaining. Not to mention that it makes the games more realistic and interactive in that you don't always have to battle to train your Pokemon. Kinda like the anime!

Pokémon-Amie
As with Super Training, it seems like a great addition to be able to interact with your Pokemon and grow closer to them. As a Pokemon fan, I know what it's like to actually feel a bond with your Pokemon. Even if they are fake digital creatures in a video game.

Pokemon Bank
This is looking to be a great addition to the Pokemon experience. And I personally could care less about the annual fee, because we pretty much all have Netflix subscriptions (which is a monthly fee). So if we're being honest when we call ourselves Pokemon-fans, we shouldn't sweat it when it comes to a most-likely very derisory annual fee for such a great service.

The Kalos Region
The setting.
Spoiler:

Put shortly, everything about this region looks fantastic. It's kinda randomized (unlike Unova in that respect), and diverse in its many landscapes and what not. Beautiful.

The Anime
And finally, the anime.
Spoiler:

WOAH. I think he's aged or something. Hopefully at least.
Plus Pokemon: The Origins. I have high expectations for that special and I'm pretty sure that they'll be met.

Overall, I give this next generation a 20/10. EASILY. I cannot wait.

Seriously, X and Y will be the best Pokemon moment of my life ever since the anime, which was what got me into Pokemon in the first place.

I've never been so excited for a Pokemon game in my whole life until now.
