[Disclaimer: This post has nothing to do with value judgments or ought questions i.e. what/who is right/wrong. Treat this as an phenomenological analysis. Just because I talk about, and even from the perspective of, different sides of a debate, doesn't mean I favor any of them]

I was listening to Kyle Kulinski's Secular Talk this morning, and chanced upon this clip:

The first three minutes cover the actual news, the rest is Kulinski's commentary....

"Prior to 1989, the term "assault weapon" did not exist in the lexicon of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun publicists to expand the category of 'assault rifles'."

A Conversation on Gun Control with a European Immigrant

Posted January 15th, 2013 at 4:53 PM by CarcharOdin (#illusoryexistence)

C.Odin: Hey, [Euro] , got a question for you.

Euro: Sure!

Mississippi has one as a ballot initiative currently tied up in court and its supporters are traveling...

Rights and Externalities, or tl;dr

This wall of text was inspired by an article I read about a couple who wanted to act as foster parents, but were denied because of their views on homosexuality. The article seemed to be more sympathetic to the couple, which got me all rant-y.

As libertarians like to say: your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins, or however it goes. It’s a pretty simple idea and it makes sense. I rather like how simple it is, how it’s so ideal and, on the outside,...
