Yesterday I got back from my London trip. It was one of those vacations where I didn't really plan anything ahead of time (except my plane ticket and hotel of course) so I didn't really know what I was going to do once I got there. I've been in big cities before and so in a lot of ways I knew what to expect. Still, there were a couple of things that were pretty surprising to me.

First, the bad so I can get that out of the way:

- There are smokers EVERYWHERE. It's disgusting....

I'm going to be traveling in the UK this summer, mostly London and the surrounding area, and I don't have a good idea of what things I should do while I'm there. I also don't know exactly how expensive things can be. Really, I'm going in kind of blind and I'd like someone to shine a little light if they can. What's good? What's a waste of time? What's overpriced? What's worth the cost? That kind of thing.

Advice from an Expert Veteran Seasoned Average Traveler

For anyone planning to go to Japan (aka Mr Cat Dog) here is some helpful reading.

Japan Trip Summary pt. II: Lost in Translation

Day 5, Monday: Kyoto Again

So it was only on returning to Kyoto the previous day that I realized how close I was staying to the old imperial palace and I thought this would be a good day to see it. It turned out to be in the center of a very large park that had once been part of a much larger area belonging to various nobles and high ranking people. The palace itself was monstrously huge, covered a large area, and had a great big wall around it. Sadly, the palace itself did not open...

I’ve leaving for Japan tomorrow for a week in Kyoto and Osaka and the shopping is going to be fantastic. Oh yeah, and all that cultural stuff, too. I have saved almost every penny from my last 5 or 6 months of paychecks for this trip so I can buy anything I find that I want.

This is gonna be the best trip ever.

Don’t miss me too much. :D

P.S. dsfagagdaffs I hate flying and 13 hours of it is going to be hell. Dx
