Gaming I'm a gamer. So, as such, I have a fair bit of things to say about my experience as a gamer.

Personal tdbits on gaming

Posted July 6th, 2009 at 7:12 AM by Hiroshi Sotomura (Sotomura Blog)

Why do I feel like using my DS more than my Wii? Why do I bring the DS around with me all the time? Answering myself here: the DS has a better library of games? The Wii does not? Is Nintendo publishing and developing more DS games because it sells more in Japan? (Their DS games really do catch my attention.)

Today, to rekindle a little bit of the flames that the Wii extinguished, I played No More Heroes. (Imported because the price dropped loads on Play-Asia.) Also felt a little saddened

Bored by anticipation

When you hope for something, do you start feeling bored in anticipation of it? I want new Pokémon games and I want them now, and just waiting for them makes me bored by the day, because no site can deliver anything remotely interesting to me within the minute I get bored. Let's call this a sickness… :(

Yes, that makes HeartGold/SoulSilver an antidote to this. Oh, and Wii Sports Resort too (which should be in the mail within this week or next).

Who the last two HG/SS blogs are really aimed at

Posted June 30th, 2009 at 6:27 PM by Hiroshi Sotomura (Sotomura Blog)

They're more a rant towards those who say anything like:
"they r destroying this game what happened to the classic"

Apologies if you really feel you're involved in this little firing line. You're not. (Unless you run into Sasha.)

Half the stuff people spout in that forum is unjustified. Except for HG/SS girl vs. Kris. That's mostly justified.

I mean, weathervanes and Friendly Shop signs? If you try to make a game look more realistic, you wouldn't keep every single building looking so square and every paddock look plain, would you? New Bark Town, where the winds of new beginnings blow! I mean, you don't think those weathervanes add character to what would otherwise be just some boring town?

Many Gold/Silver fans are good liars

Posted June 27th, 2009 at 5:50 AM by Hiroshi Sotomura (Sotomura Blog)

This is a small rant. (That was self-contradictory.)

Half the people in the HeartGold/SoulSilver forum at PC cannot seriously have played a ten year old game ten years ago. (And if you account for the fact that the US release came a year later, it would've been nine years ago.) Take the average age of PC's members who post there - 14 to 15. So people would've been five or six years old when the game came out. (Six year olds have better-developed brains than five year olds, but they're
