Elite Four: REMATCH!

Posted May 2nd, 2011 at 8:28 AM by Mr Cat Dog (ZOMG! A wild Blog appeared!)

After 73 hours, I think I'm finally able to face the Elite Four for the second time... but I still don't think I'm ready! Perpetually risk averse, not having a team which is all at the highest level of the Champion's highest level Pokemon (in this case Alder's Volcarona) is like a venial sin in my book, but I've told myself it's now or never.

Below is my team: all are Level 70... am I ready or do I still need to find lots of Audinos to abuse until they give me experience?

Culture... meh! 24/4/11 - 30/4/11

TREME S02E01 (A-) Slightly too expositiony in places, but by god have I missed this show. Dannie FTW, and Antoine has groupies!

As soon as the Treme theme song erupted from the double bass, I could just feel all the New Orleans energy just rush back through the screen and into my body. This show, like no other on TV, has the ability to make you want to just BE with all of its characters and live in the New Orleans it portrays so expertly. Picking up 14 months after Katrina, the...

Completing the PokéCommunity Challenge

Posted April 30th, 2011 at 2:59 PM by Mr Cat Dog (ZOMG! A wild Blog appeared!)

Just over a week ago, Patchisou Yutohru posted a blog post entitled The PokéCommunity Challenge: essentially a 'contest' to improve the quality and level of activity of those who participated until the end of April (which, for me, ends one minute after the posting of this blog). I responded that I'd participate, as long as a fair number of people. As of writing this, I have successfully completed the challenge, and below are my observations and findings from doing the challenge:

A question of utmost importance

Posted April 27th, 2011 at 3:30 PM by Mr Cat Dog (ZOMG! A wild Blog appeared!)

Yesterday in the IRC, there was a discussion on cartoon nostalgia, and it eventually turned into a one solely about the merits of Looney Tunes. I, being the epic animation nerd that I am, instantly directed people's attention to "The Rabbit of Seville" as my candidate for best Looney Tunes short. Other people started chiming in: "What's Opera, Doc?", "One Froggy Evening", "Duck Amuck" and "Rabbit Fire" were all tossed into the consideration pot....

In case people weren't aware...

Posted April 25th, 2011 at 4:28 PM by Mr Cat Dog (ZOMG! A wild Blog appeared!)

In other news, as part of my new modly duties and such, I feel I should do a little bit of market research into people's opinion of Culture & Media before I go ahead and just assert my will on it in the style of Mao Zedong/Josef Stalin. So, I'd very much appreciate it if people were to answer a few questions about it, to help me and such:
  • Do you frequent Culture & Media?
  • If yes: what do you like about it, and what
