Found it. :D "Choose script editor" under "Settings".

Also made my first scripting error discovery:

    Quote:
????: TEAM STEAM has done a great\njob taking control of this city.\lSHEILA just told me that she found\lthe BLUE ORB and RED ORB in ESMERALD's\lBOTANICAL LABORATORY.\lLet's go there now. We can leave\lthis place to burn!\p????: Great news, let's go now!\nIt's time for the real LEADERS of\lTEAM STEAM to get their hands dirty!
That bolded bit is the scrambled one in the picture I took, and I see now the reason for the scramble. I thought it was the question marks at first, but then I stumbled upon Groment City Museum's instance, which works fine. After more analysis, I figured out that \n seems to move on to the next line immediately while \l pauses and waits for the player to read, if I'm seeing this right. Therefore, all we need to do is change that to "\p????: Great news, let's go now!\lIt's time for the real LEADERS of" and it should be fine. Alternatively, since it's another person talking, another box can pop up with the other speech, separating it and removing the error that way; however, I see each box has its own code as well. I think the latter was in fact intended.

So, for whatever change gets made, the next question becomes how to save the script I'm looking to edit. I then need to plug in a trigger to cause the script to activate on a copy (not the original) of the ROM in order to test it (I don't need to retrigger the fires or sprites themselves, just the talking). If it works, then I change the other three in the original to match and move on after moving back to my saved state.

There's a "Set default script editor" box somewhere in A-Map, find the XSE.exe and say Yes.
Then to check a script, either click on person or on Open Script in case of S tile (that is tile script)

Being a complete notice with tools, how do you use XSE with AdvanceMap? Want to figure out how to take a look even if I don't actually do any editing, since I can't load scripts in AdvanceMap right now without other tools.

Also took a look at the included tutorial. Seems basic. Read the Flags chapter in particular. Think I know what to look for. Will see if I find it. Lots of time to do it.

XSE. You need to learn scripting to understand them...

What tool is used for the checking of flags? Maybe I can try to decipher it, but I won't actually make any changes, just let you know what I find.

If you want any mapmaking help, playtesting, or just general complaining when you do your hack, I'm game.

What I immediately saw in the left screen was switch between Rock and Ice as Ice is weak to Rock, not the other way around.

About the arrows... let's be serious here, no one really reads them, much less is directed by them =D I wouldn't mind. (And again we have another useless trivia :D But this one was interesting :D)

Oh, is that right? I don't use centering so nothing serious for me =)

Two Route 415 observations today. Pictures taken a day or two ago, just observing today.

On the left: I made an executive quick-fix decision, and Abomasnow now appears with a 5% rate on Route 415. Similar to their rates on Route 414, though Snover are slightly more common on 415 (still 60%).

On the right: I see a down arrow for Snowce City at the EAST end of the Route where it meets Route 416. Clearly, there's nothing to the south, and almost at the point that Drakebreath appears that way. This got me thinking, however; signs are better for pointing out which way a city or other area (i.e. Dardusk Woods) is at, not where the next numbered Route is. That's like here in Ontario saying Highway 69 ends at Highway 400 (they aren't going to put it on a signboard of upcoming cities as in "Highway 400, 46, Parry Sound 62, Barrie 215"). These changes could be made all over Zhery, but at the very least this arrow for Snowce City needs changing. (Side note: Highway 400 is slowly taking over Highway 69, which will cease to exist in 2017.)

BTW, did you know centering is disallowed in VMs? Odd.

    Yeah, why not...
Still... it's kinda weird that Wes would just leave one route =D
