I leaning towards being in Earthland for so long caused him to develop some innate magic power? Cause otherwise, if the staves were the reason he was so "powerful," I feel like he didn't deserve the S-rank title at all haha
Yeah I'm keeping up with the manga haha. Seeing Jellal handle them so easily was the reason I went back and reread some parts. Of course, Jellal used to being one of the 10 saints, so it'd be understandable that he'd learn to wield a magic weapon quickly?
Iunno, I liked Mystogan, but his whole character's power seems too gimmicky :/
I am a huge fan! And thus I'll try to help you as best I can, fff.
I'm guessing Mystogan either acquired magical abilities while on Earthland, or it really is just the staves that help him. That part I'm not entirely sure about, tbh ^^; ...Though, unless the staves were really powerful I would guess it would have to be his own magical abilities because it is not easy to get S-rank in Fairy Tail at the very least.
As for who can use the staves, if you read the latest arc Jellal Fernandes is actually pretty decent with them (he's pretending to be Mystogan for the sake of Fairy Tail); he only lost due to...other complications, fff.
IIRC, you're a huge FT fan, right? If so, could you clarify something for me? hahaha
I recently went back to reread some parts of the series and well, what confuses me is Mystogan's powers. He's from Edolas, and so he uses the staves for battle, yes? Then how strong was he exactly? Like, would he have just been crap/a normal human without them?
And can anyone use te staves? Or is it just that these are weapons he's proficient with? Cause I think Lucy picked up how to use a lacrima weapon pretty quick in Edolas.
and Even then, I think he's cast a few spells, without the staves before. Like turning himself to mist, teleporting, and closing Anima?
