I'll rather post here as VM instead of continuing that discussion in the thread. Anyway, Granaldo City is only connected to another area through a place called Underground Tunnel. But that isn't a cave actually; more like a basement and is part of the city too. You do run into wild pokemon there too but they're mostly Koffings, Grimers and of that kind.
The cave in the northern part of the city doesn't lead anywhere but having an entrance there straight from the city makes a lot of sense too, considering the events going on in there.
Overall, the main focus in the hack isn't mapping although I do try my best to make them realistic as possible.
By the way, "ROM" itself doesn't even mean anything, game would be a much better word, just saying. It's basically a abbreviation of "read-only-memory", that's all. And "rom hacking" would be modifying "read-only-memory" data to make the program act in a way it couldn't before.
TBH, I haven't seen the Beta 3 yet. I'm busy with Light Platinum and even the official games just out haven't drawn a lot of attention yet. Maybe this is why Nintendo hates ROMs.
The things that happen when you decide to map and write a guide...just did a dry bomb-rush run of the Groment Ground-type Gym (I swear I saw others) and SURVIVED just mucking around...let's see what happens when I actually try. LMAO
