Welcome back! PM me and we'll get to talking again.
E.A. Lo siento por mi deletreo... no tengo la teimpo para hacer las cambias de llevas (? No se la palabra que quiero decir) por accentos y tildes.
I get that way too after I've been speaking Spanish for a while. If it's easier, I could probably understand you if you started typing in Spanish xD
Lucky you! :x I've still got four days to go and three more exams to take. Good thing you're out of middle school; I dunno how high school's like where you are, but high school was a huge step up for me; it's like a land of new opportunities.
What reminded you of it? The cool name (this is sarcasm)? Or all the empty promises? It's not just "evil teams banding together"; they were apparently together all along from what I can gather. Unlike AZ, I don't think this guy knows what he's doing, and now he's got people posting stolen sprites all over his topic.
Yea... So true. But then, I just realized: I've never actually wanted to play any of the games being made here.
Think about it: If a man who loves chocolate decides one day to work in a chocolate factory for a year and never once have a piece, will he like chocolate by the end of the year? Maybe it's because I've never believed in any of these projects enough to want them to succeed that caused me to so openly decry them.
I was rather rough about it, no denying that, but if I'd sandwitched my criticism in between praising their sprites and their maps and whatever, who's to say they would have read it? I'll try to be more delicate next time though-- I had half the staff and the developer bearing down on me about it (although Minorthreat handled it really well, I thought).
Sure xD You two weren't the most agreeable people, but you didn't exactly go out of your way to be so, and I've never really seen AZ be intentionally polite, but you shook stuff up a lot (although you should have targeted the showcase rather than the plot and story board-- you'dve made more of an impact that way).
P.S. What a beautiful poem. (...thing) :3 It could be viewed as a metaphor for taking risks with game plots, but then it could be a metaphor for many other things too xD
Interesting use of bold commenting on Pokemon Scarlet. You didn't have to be a complete jackass about it, though. You see, it's very easy to read a terrible piece of writing, point a few things and then tell the author that it's utter $hit. The difficult part is the circumlocution.
Agent Zero (and myself, in the days oh so long ago) gained perhaps critical infamy because we... said what we thought. But that didn't really get me very far, now did it? Even AZ called me something to the effect of an "arrogant SOB" at one point.
EDIT: I feel stupid about what would have been said here...
P.S. Look at my biography. I think you'll find it... relevant.
I didn't read it. Maybe you helped him though, and it'll become one of the few (VERY few) games to make it to the Showcase.
*sigh* it's tragic, isn't it? Malachite-- which had something going for it, and although it had some apparent flaws it at least had the guts to use Fakemon and a new region-- shut down, and a few of the other games which I respected were buried (such as Carbon). Now, looking at the front page of the showcase, I see only anime-based games and/or remakes, MMORPfails, and perhaps one or two really interesting projects (Pokemon Protectors, and... uh, Ryen perhaps). Plus Uranium's getting no comments :/ I'm helping out by critting Tanzanite, but I'm afraid they have little besides what they're showing us that doesn't suck.
Did you see what I did with Scarlet? The thread exploded xD They're working it out now though.
Yea... I noticed that. The only reason I bothered commenting on that kid's story was because I thought it was funny.
Anyways, the main thing I'm noticing in GD recently is, well... a lack of soul. I looked at Dissension, and I saw another boring pokemon game. I looked at Indigo League, and find that... guess what? Another person too lazy to come up with a storyline just copies off the anime. Everyone wants you to play their (incomplete) product, when all I'm seeing in most of the new stories is regurgitated garbage.
It's really too bad with you leaving; with both you and Delta gone, who'll be left to cynically boldcomment the half-assed plots people churn out? ...no, no, outside pressures always take priority, I understand. If you have to leave, then leave GDW in the hands of people you trust. But come back if you can, okay? :3
...Alternatively, if you really do want to stick around but don't feel drawn to anything in particular, you could always hitch up with a good game project and write for 'em. (I'm not saying Uranium-- actually, Delta worked for Amethyst for a little while and was dissatisfied with the amount of plot work, then predictably abandoned it. It's a good project, so it's really a shame to see such a void of plot.) Somebody, somewhere, could use your help.
That would be very...useful. Recent events in my life have caused me to stop using this site, so I might be gone for a while. I want the newspaper to survive, but I'm just not feeling any passion for it right now. As anyone who knows me can say, once I get my mind set on something I'll do it: until I find something else. Hopefully I'll come back, it's just that right now I feel my only tie here is the newspaper.
You don't have his MSN? That would be the best way to get ahold of him, but really I haven't talked to him in... over a week, I'd say. He's online but invisible. :/ You know him-- if he doesn't want to be found, he won't be. He's not worth your time, if you ask me-- GDW can function fine on its own. If you like, I'll write something for it.
