June 22nd, 2014 01:23 AMHybrid TrainerWell it happens a lot in my school because it's such a low income area (Supposed to be one of the lowest in this part of the country) and there are also a lot of kids with social and behaviour difficulties. But it never happens because a kid beats someone up and runs off. That can be dealt with later, it's when a kid is refusing to stop and is completely out of control that you won't get into serious trouble for restraining them. If you do it because they're running away then you'll most likely lose your job and go to court.
I learn best by having someone talk to/at me. PowerPoints are good bouncing points for lecturers to use because it means you know what is coming next and they don't have to spend ages drawing/writing down the diagram. It also means that I can refer back to it when I read my notes.
And I don't know if my uni does anything like that, I've never missed a deadline for an assignment, and hopefully never will! That and we've only ever had two modules where we've had something like one assignment a week.
Well that's a good thing! Means you still wanna come back :P I'm only just rekindling my love for this place. I just don't have the time to be coming on here at the moment. Hopefully that'll change when my placement finishes next week and I hand in all my work! :D
June 21st, 2014 09:01 PMAxeliiraI think most teachers here in my area might make use of that class because the students here can get really violent and all they do is run away from them. Such wusses. >_>
What method of learning do you learn best? Powerpoints are okay, as long as they are readable and have lots of information. I've went through classes when the professor just reads powerpoints and not lecture enough on the actual chapter...which sucks. I can even know what my grade is online as well, so if I miss an assignment, I get an email notification telling me that said assignment was due and not turned in.
Somewhat...I got other things distracting me, like the World Cup and primarily concentrating on what to do after the summer. I'm also a little burnt out on logging on PC, so I wanted to minimize my time here for three weeks. I'm already a week in and I wanna come back to staff xD
June 21st, 2014 11:37 AMHybrid TrainerYea, restraining is something you may even have to do in mainstream schools. They never tell you to do it, but it's our job to make sure the other kids in our class are safe, so if one kid is gonna launch a chair at them then restraining it is!
The thought of online classes seems so bizarre to me. I struggle having to read powerpoints online when I miss a lecture. I don't think I could handle doing the entire thing online with no teacher input.
Busy life? lol
June 20th, 2014 08:05 PMAxeliira"training to restrain students" OH HOT DAYUM. I think I'd take the training just to be on the safe side, you'll never know what kind of students you might end up teaching and all. Gotta be Mr. Discipline and all that. :)
lol I switched the class times. I'm doing a 10 am class. The 7:30 am class was a 70's style teaching method (when the professor lectures vocally by reading from the textbook), and I can't learn that way. :| The 10 am class is a hybrid one (half online, half in-class lecture) so I'm able to understand biopsych by looking at awesome videos of neurons, axons, dendrites and etc. I'm a visual learner, so I think I just saved myself from outright flunking. :x
& yeah late reply is late. I'm on DLOA right now. xD
June 16th, 2014 11:00 AMHybrid TrainerAhhhh, makes sense! To be honest depending on what kind of school I work in I have to do the same thing lol. If I were to work in an SEN school (WHICH I MAY HAVE TO DO NEXT YEAR OMG) I'd have to have training on how to restrain students omfg.
omfg that's so adorable you have to do it!!!!
It's getting sorted tomorrow hopefully! I'll keep you posted whether or not I actually do well on this one or not :s If I don't then idek what I'm gonna do. Go to bed Megan!!!
June 16th, 2014 05:04 AMAxeliiraYeah, get CPR certified too. Along with my certifications (planning on getting A+ sometime in late July and getting my MCTIP once again later on), I have to be "health certified" as well because you'll never know what might happen in front of you.
Hmmm, cosplaying...I might have to ask him about THAT! I'll just buy him a Pinkie Pie headband and tail so he can wear it. ;D (I have a Twilight one).
Ouch, that's not good. Hope you get that sorted. I'm up early because I got a 7:30 am class soon. What am I doing. lmao.
June 15th, 2014 05:53 AMHybrid TrainerExcuses excuses megan ;D hehe
OOooo, more money is always nice! Is there anything different you'd need to do if you were to work in a hospital as opposed to somewhere else?
Eeeeeeeeeee, I'm so excited this is all so adorable :D Are you two cosplaying whilst there? YOU COULD MATCH OMG.
And sorry about the late reply, had a bad observation so ended up having a load more work dumped on me :S
June 9th, 2014 11:38 PMAxeliiraOH YEAH UH
remember I kept switching accounts from Leaf Storm to Meganium and all that lmao ALSO YOU WERE DEAD BUSY and so was I ;; I was on PC less and less in most of 2013 lmao. Leaf Storm is no more now so I got it merged to this one. :) And I kept refreshing my friends list so I had to readd everyone.
One thing: bigger income. A professor told me that with the technology advancing within the coming years, a lot of places like hospitals, factories, and government agencies are going to demand techs, and I'm on the right path. It's all in the matter of refreshing your certifications, and in the know of the latest technology out there.
That is a definite. :) No idea atm, but it is more likely we'll meet up in Dallas, TX for a convention. There's so many possibilities, though! We're both open-minded so whatever floats our boat, we'll go from there.
June 9th, 2014 10:55 PMHybrid TrainerEeeeeeee! Well good luck! Why do you want to be in medical tech though?
Ahhhh, ok I guess that makes sense. Explains why do many people change their major haha!
Nawwwww, that's so adorable! When you two do meet I want photographs all over the place :D any idea what you're going to do on your 'first date' ?????
Also why weren't we friends before all this????
June 9th, 2014 04:48 PMAxeliiraYup yup! That's basically it. Already took a few basic medical classes including terminology so I can add those to le resume. There's a lot of those in San Diego, pretty stoked.
Electives are basically random classes that are outside your major. They call it electives because they push you to explore other classes & things so you can be "aware" of what else is out there in the world. I'm taking biopsychology, should I stay with the decision of driving 30 min in the heat to and from. idk what else I want to take but I'm leaning towards accounting and/or chemistry.
it's quilzel, and yes! We've been at it for...uhh...a month and a half now! Literally can't wait to see him irl really soon, that is...if our lives aren't so hectic and whatnot. To this day I still get those butterflies in me. <3
