February 14th, 2012 12:21 PMgiradialkiaQuote:What would happen if... you traded a fakemon to a regular Pokemon game? Would the trade cancel itself? Would the roms/emulators explode? Or would you get a magikarp with 600 BST and a moveset it legally can't have?
I really wanna know!
If the Fakémon replaced an actual Pokemon, then trading it over would simply cause the Fakemon to 'revert' to the original Pokemon once it was transferred to the other game (I'd imagine). However I'd imagine if you were to use one of the 25 'blank' spots, I guess it may just glitch the game. Or affect the Unown or something. Anyway someone else could probably give more information on it than me; so you can always post it in ROM Hacking's Simple Question Sticky.
September 12th, 2011 02:26 PMLassLauraI totally meant life, not like.
September 12th, 2011 02:16 PMLassLauraGood I be Sorry for going AWOL like that. How's like been treating you?
September 12th, 2011 02:12 PMgiradialkiawhile been has. you how are? :D
September 12th, 2011 01:31 PMLassLauraBoo.
July 14th, 2010 12:24 PMLassLauraWell for the past few years we've been a little tight on cash (I blame the economy) so new technology hasn't been very high on our priority list (we didn't even have internet connection until about 2 years ago :O). I would really like to get a DS and Pokemon Platinum though.
I hate automatic updating SO MUCH. It really sucks when you're busy with something and that "your pc will restart in 5 minutes" box pops up and it won't stop bugging you until you restart >.< But never fear, you can turn that annoying thing off! Just follow this link for a step by step tutorial on how: http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/515869-windows-update-enable-disable-automatic-updates-windows-7-guide.html
It's still a good idea to update your pc every once in a while to make sure you get the latest security updates and stuff, so I put mine on "check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them". That way it'll notify you when you have updates available but let you choose the time most convenient to you to install them. Problem solved :D
Well really I love any high-power-high accuracy move (but Earthquake the most ). Shiftry, Lapras, Gengar, Alakazam and Blaziken are some more of my favorites Pokes for fighting with, and as for ones I like solely for cuteness I'd say Shinx is my favorite (don't tell that to all my Eevee plushies though :p).
Well Windows 7 hasn't been around very long, so maybe the company who made your sound card just hasn't made the compatible software yet. You can always hope...
Yes, malware are evil little suckers > I thought I was safe because I had a virus scanner and spyware scanner, but apparently neither of those scan for malware (I figured the virus scanner did at least). It was also partly my fault for downloading stuff from some rather questionable websites. I'm normally careful, but I was getting impatient because I couldn't find what I was looking for on a safe site and just started downloading stuff willy-nilly. You can bet I won't be doing THAT again >.>
Psssh, Portal is small hat. Ever play Super Mario Galaxy? Some of the galaxy levels are just "OMG brb puking x_x" My game-induced nausea has gotten better over the years though. When I saw Super Mario 64 for the first time back in 1996 it made me so sick I couldn't stand up O_o Then again I was watching someone play it on a 72-inch TV screen, that probably didn't help That's why I prefer 2D games, or at least 3D ones that have fixed cameras angles.
My favorite games are RPGs (obviously, I play Pokemon :p) and survival-horror games like Silent Hill, Clock Tower, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame (I believe you know that as Project Zero), which I think is very ironic because I really don't like being scared... also my tastes lean more toward retro games (PS2 era and below, with a preference for SNES. Nothing below NES though).
July 9th, 2010 04:55 AMgiradialkiaBehind on technology? Lol. We don't even HAVE a digital camera. My parents... they don't have a great understanding of technology in general, so I guess they're a bit reluctant too get stuff like that. We only got real Broadband last week, I'd been using my mobile to go online for the past... forever, lol. The broadband is partially what lead to the Blue Screen, but I've updated to Win7 since, and luckily I've had no problems (except it keeps searching for updates or something, and every few days it needs to restart to apply one. This is my second time writing this reply, first time I was cut off by a restart. Once t turns on again and is functioning, I won't complain, lol). I'm fine, thanks. Kinda bored, living in the country'll do that to ya, but I'm good.
Ooh, I love Earthquake, too! :D Best move ever, hahaha. I like Swampert, Hypno, Poliwrath, Elekid (moreso than its evolutions), Magmar, Heracross... Alot, in other words. I love the likes of Swampert and Quagsire, because I only have to worry about grass, and a good Ice Punch/Blizzard ban usually handle them.
Thanks, its been pretty weird starting on a completely clean computer. I need to get a new sound card, because I make music in my free time (on the computer, I'm kinda a DJ, but only kinda, lol), ergo a Sound Card is crucial, but the one I'd installed isn't supported by 7 (typically by my luck, it stopped at Vista).
Ugh, I've only recently heard the term Malware, and it already sends shivers down my spine. Seems pretty annoying if they can block you from trying to solve the problem, suppose I should be even more careful now that the computer's connected to the internet.
Agreed, there are some terrible hacks out there. ~PatJamma's~ There's not alot can be done about them, though- the rules are pretty tight as it is, but crap still manages to seep through... Um, sorry, could've phrased that better.
Oh, sorry, I was unclear. Graphics are usually the first thing I look at, should the hacker/game maker decide to use custom/ alternate graphics. Otherwise, I don't really care for graphics in official games.
Lol @game induced nausea. Different kind of 3D, but here's one that gave me alot of headaches- well, not this exactly, but it's the same basic idea:
It's like... If you shoot a Portal above you, then another below you, you could fall forever. I had to take several breaks when playing this, lmao.
So what kinda games are your favourite, then?
July 7th, 2010 01:46 PMLassLauraWell last week was kinda stressful for me (and yesterday sucked all to hell) but today seems to be looking up. I did get a digital camcorder a few days ago (I'm always a bit late with getting new technology =.= I didn't get a digital camera until about 2 years ago). Not really sure if I'll ever do anything with it, but at least I have it. Yay I guess. And you?
Well maybe if your hack started out in a super mountainous/volcanic region that had lots of wild ground and fire types, then a steel starter might not be so broken. I don't think I'd choose that starter though, steel's never been one of my favorite types. I like ground types or part-ground types like Quagsire and Camerupt. Or really anything that can learn Earthquake (I love that move ). Who are some of your favorite Pokemon?
I am super terrible at scripting. I just can't understand how to do it I'm somewhat decent at mapping (to me) and I used to make my own sprites for RPG Maker but that doesn't mean I was any good at it Ripping sprites, though... Anyway, I need to learn how to script because I'm in the process of making a bullet hell shoot 'em up game (think Touhou) in Game Maker 8.
Oh man, I feel for you about the format. I've lost so much stuff in the past due to hard drive crashes and virus corruptions. I lost everything on both my hard drives just last year due to a motherboard malfunction. I didn't have anything really important on there (just games, music and pictures) but it still sucked to lose all of it ._. Then sometime last week I had some malware that was preventing me from going certain places on the internet (Pokecommunity included! Also almost every site that had to do with malware and virus removal. Veeeery smart little malwares they were) and I was afraid I'd have to format, but thankfully I just got a program called Malwarebytes and it took care of the malware and my pc was instantly back to normal (such as it is; it's a bit quirky anyway).
Well you can always change a Pokemon's movesets, like how VGAura gave his starter Ralts the Tackle move in Pokemon Identity. I don't think it's that hard to do. And all told, DarkCopper is worlds better than some hacks *cough*krillian's*cough*
I want B&W too >.< This is actually the first time I've really gotten excited for a game (Pokemon or otherwise) in quite a long time. I think the last time was when Tomato's Mother 3 translation patch was released, like, 2 years ago. But first I need to get a DS (told you I was behind in getting new technology ). And about graphics, I can have just as much fun playing a NES game as playing these "graphics are everything" games that seem to be all over the market these days. I actually prefer 2D games, but that's partly because some 3D games that have a lot of camera movement (like Super Mario Galaxy) can make me extremely nauseous x_x
July 7th, 2010 03:05 AMgiradialkiaOh, it's no problem, lol. I sometimes get those really lazy spells myself, you'll see...
Yeah, I guess a having a steel type early on in the game would... f*** it up, pretty much.
Yeah, hacking really is a gradual process. I remember how I started- I downloaded a package thingwith Elite Map, all the tools that the makers of Elite Map make (such as LIPs, ScriptEd, SpritEd, etc), and a Ruby ROM.
It was horrible! I never thought to copy the ROM before editing something in the map, and utterly destroyed it (using Growl broke the game). Plus, over half of the other tools just didn't work, and at the time I didn't have the internet myself (had a friend download it for me in the first place), so getting a new ROM and actually decent tools was a real pain. Over the following months, though, I got better. I can now do (really basic) scripting, spriting, mapping, etc. I wanted to learn how to do everything myself, so I wouldn't need to depend too much on others, although thankfully a few people are always there whenever I do need a it.
Anyway, my hacking life ended yesterday- I had to format my computer, losing everything, including all progress on my hack (plus the best Image Editor ever, that'd been preinstalled...). Meh, as I say, no use in complaining about what can't be changed. I'll start again in a week or two.
Even then, though, the dragons'll be a bit too powerful for the start of the game. Dratini only has Wrap for an attack for ages, too. I dunno, his hack could use some work in all departments (story, graphics, mapping, etc), but I'm sure he'll improve over time.
I actually find myself really wanting Black and White, lol. Despite the obvious attempts at something fresh (TRIPLE BATTLES?!?!?!), it looks pretty cool, especially graphics wise (I'm a graphics guy, it's usually the first thing I look for, though I know it's not the most important aspect).
So how're you doing?
July 6th, 2010 11:07 AMLassLauraIt's okay, I've been in super lazy reply mode these past few days so sorry for not replying sooner. It's nothing against you so don't worry.
It's just that fire>grass>water is so boring to me :\ My friend says flying>grass>rock would unbalance the game because of how bug-type Pokemon are often the first you encounter in the wild and the flying starter would make the early game too easy, but fire-types are strong against bugs too so I kinda don't see where he's coming from. I thought about steel>ice>ground but getting a steel-type that early would totally break the game :\
Yeah, me too. If I ever make a hack (which I really want to) I'm gonna try to make it as original as possible (my boyfriend/hack collaborator wants to make 150+ completely new fakemon for our hacks O_o I'd rather use fakemon and real Pokemon together, it's hard coming up with fakemon >.<). And no self-insert characters (blame TehBaro's Pokemon Quartz for that ). And I thought hacking would be easy too. Boy did I get a shock I thought the experience I had using RPG Maker would help, but I opened up Pokemon Ruby with Advance Map and was like O_O... *closes the program* lol. It doesn't help that I can't script worth a damn either.
Yeah, I saw that SSJ4Furanki has added Munna and Chiirami (the chinchilla) to his hack. And here I thought since I had talked him out of using Zorua as a starter so I thought he'd stop with the gen 5 stuff altogether... wishful thinking I guess :\ It's funny that he went with the dragon starters because I was talking to someone (who hates hackers using gen 5 stuff even more than me) about his starter choice dilemma and he told me to tell Furanki to use the dragons instead, but I didn't because I thought he was just joking... and then Furanki switches to the dragons a couple weeks later. Weird huh?
Ice isn't strong against rock. And steel would break the early game unless you loaded the game with fire, ground and fighting types :\ Nice try though. I really wish psychic>fighting>dark worked (without Miracle Eye). It would be cool and different I think.
July 3rd, 2010 08:50 AMgiradialkia'Sup! Sorry, I'm certain I typed a reply to this, musn't have sent it :/
Anyway, I think... Flying>Grass>Rock works. Though that's not 'better' than the Fire>Grass>Water, IMO. It's just the way Nintendo has it, its an excuse not to stray from the same formula. Or something, I don't really know :D
I forget what hack it's in, it's a FireRed one in Progressing Hacks that has Regirock in it, and you battle Roark too. I'll look and see if I can find the name.
I'm glad they don't use the protagonists though, it really makes me sick that some people just do it for the sake of having something new New, but not original.
The problem is, people just dive in, thinking it'll be easy. I did, I downloaded a crappy package with EliteMap and a load of other stuff that didn't work properly. I guess, the problem isn't diving in, it's posting the first thing that comes to their heads. Now, I didn't do that . They need to give it more time without a thread- they'll always go further, and become more original, that way.
SSJ4 Furanki... Yeah, he's a nice guy, but I actually hate that he does that. He's like the greatest culprit for the whole 'newest official thing= coolness!' thing. As you said it gets worse as more is revealed, he's inserted Munna now, and I'm willing to bet he'll insert the mole thing too. He's not even waiting for english names D: This is an entirely personal thing, here, I'm just very opinionated when it comes to that kinda stuff, so this rant means nothing :D
He's gone with three Dragon starters now, though, Dratini, Bagon and Gible.
Just thought of another triangle- Steel>Rock>Fire. Or you could replace steel with Ice (if Ice is super effective against Rock, I can't remember).
June 23rd, 2010 03:33 PMLassLauraWell you asked for it :p Sorry for dumping all that on you. I should be ok, I'm used to life taking a crap on me all the time.
I thought Reshiram looks more Digimon-y than Zekrom. Oh well. What do you think of the rumor of them being manmade digital Pokemon like Porygon because of the last parts of their names (ZekROM, ReshiRAM)? And what do you think the likelihood of Munna being a pre-evo of Drowzee is?
Oh. Well you know it's only gonna get worse when more info is revealed. I'm surprised no one's using the new protagonists and professor in their hacks yet. What hack is it anyway? The one with Pokabu I mean. I haven't been lurking on the Progressing Hacks/Hacks Showcase boards much lately.
Yeah, SSJFuranki seemed pretty reasonable and down to earth when I talked to him. His choices for Zorua and Zoroark's movesets... not so reasonable (no dark attacks and Thunderpunch? o.O). I was trying to help him come up with a different set of starters since he decided to can Zorua, but neither fighting/dark/psychic or fighting/ghost/psychic really work because of the immunities :/ Is there really no better starter triangle than grass/water/fire? I've tried to think of one but I can't.
June 23rd, 2010 08:29 AMgiradialkiaAh. I.. I can see how that would be discouraging. Well.. I hope it all works out for you. (I'm really sorry, this is what I was talking about).
Anyway, I actually agree, they DO look a bit like Digimon. Especially Zekrom, IMO.
Well, that was exaggeration. There's at least one hack using Pokabu, anyway, which doesn't make sense at all, except for attention's sake. I mean, another thing is that they all use the same sprite for it- one they found in the Resource thread. That just means they saw it, and probably decided on the spot "Ooh, people'll like this". I sprited my own Zoroa/rk for mine, because I genuinely plan on having them for a reason (not story related, just a small side plot thing). I think those two are okay for now, as some of their moves are known, and improvisation for those not known isn't too hard.
Lol, the creator of DarkCopper. He's a reasonably intelligent guy, and mannerly to others (which is more than can be said for some), but alot of his graphics need work, and he does SO many of them, haha.
June 22nd, 2010 04:15 PMLassLauraWell if you insist... *sigh* where to start? First off I had a huge fight with my bf, I couldn't pay my phone bill so it got shut off, my mother told me to get a job or go live in a homeless shelter, I stepped on a nail while barefoot, and my cat got beat up by... I don't even know what, but he's in bad shape and we can't afford to take him to the vet. It... just really hasn't been the best week for me ._.
I sort of like the new Pokemon, but it seems like Game Freak is either trying too hard (Gears, the legendary dragons who honestly look more like Digimon than Pokemon to me), or not trying hard enough (Chiramii, Mamepato, Meguroko, Munna, Shimama) with the designs, but I suppose there's Pokes like that in every generation *cough*Skitty*cough*.
I hate that too. You probably saw me tell off a couple hackers about using Zorua and Zoroark despite there being no information about them, but they mostly ignored me except for the creator of DarkCopper. They're just doing it for attention pretty much =/ What hacks are using the B&W starters?
June 22nd, 2010 02:57 PMgiradialkiaOh. Well, I normally encourage my friends to share their problems, but we don't really know each other too well. By all means, feel free, but it depends on how you feel about spilling to a stranger, hehe.
Anyway, the Black and White Pokemon... They're okay, I guess. I'm not crazy about the legendaries, though. Dragons have been done, regardless of what they represent.
I also dislike how so many hacks are featuring the B&W starters- by not waiting even to see the evolutions, it proves that they're doing it purely for the sake of something from Gen 5. Zoroa and Zoroark are okay, though. Not just saying that because I'm using them, lol. What do you think of the new Pokemon, yourself?
