So the more you play, the less you value them? I don't think it has really much to do with playing, as it does studying; I've studied a few other rom hacks and it does seem like the ones with DP houses inserted tend to, for whatever reason, look nicer to me. I'm not too fond of the usage of graphics where the DP Pokemon Center's practically staring down the player--those just don't look right considering the perspective of their surroundings. Any of the DP graphics, for that matter, where the building's shape is distorted doesn't seem proper to use in a 3rd gen rom hack.
That doesn't really answer my question though. What would you consider changing if you were to use DP graphics? I'm thinking about using some for my game since it seems like the most popular choice in "prettying up" a rom hack.
Well, some people think changing the houses, trees, etc is enough since the interiors of buildings never changed perspective in the 4th gen anyway. I don't know what else would constitute "EVERYTHING" since DP had flat-graphic grass, just like the 3rd gen, and I think the water can go largely unchanged.
I also consider all of these with the exmaple of Shiny Gold. Why is it that that game can be so popular yet do just as I have described--it inserts only DP pokecenters and marts and a few other features like street lights; the water is unchanged, as are the other buildings--the only major difference is palette changes. Is the line of reasoning, "it's a remake of Pokemon Gold so who cares?" It seems to me that if one game can get off without having to change every last detail, then why can't others?
I guess I would have to know more about what constitutes as everything to you, though.
What do you think about inserting DP/HGSS style houses into games? I think they look pretty cool myself, but based on the past images from your rom hacks, I have to wonder what your thoughts are on that.
