Really? I thought this would have gotten around by now. In short, shinies aren't random like we used to think but, rather, are governed by some algorithm that, like the damage formula and individual values, was cracked by a math guru somewhere. If you have your secret ID (SID...need to have a random, non-hatched shiny or pokesav/AR), a program can calculate where shinies appear. There's no cheating involved. It does, however, take patience. For more information, I think you wanna Google "DPPt PRNG Research"...it's a thread at Smogon.
