March 6th, 2015 09:17 AMgiradialkiaWell it's worth trying to insert it and seeing how it sounds, more often that not all the instruments I've chosen are already in the voicegroup I'm using so it works out fine.
I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with the voicegroups. As far as I know, MPlayDef.s is a file related to the sappy program itself, and should be in the same folder as Sappy. Maybe you accidentally moved or deleted it. Either way, all you have to do is re-extract/re-install Sappy and it should re-create that file.
Yeah, feel free. I'm really no expert on the matter at all but if I can clarify anything I will!
March 5th, 2015 11:05 PMchrunchSooo basically if I already have a song made it's going to be very hard to do? Thanks for the help, I might just end up skipping on the music if I can't figure it out because it seems harder to do than I thought it would be.
One more question, when I'm trying to assemble the song for testing this pops up:
Is it something to do with the voicegroups? I'm just trying to follow a tutorial, no idea what I'm doing haha
EDIT: actually do you think I could PM you? I have some more questions.
March 5th, 2015 09:26 AMgiradialkiaWell how I used to do things (I haven't done any ROM music in a while), was the following:
I'd base the song I'm inserting off of another song. I'd make note of what instruments the songs used, and I'd just do my best to make sure the song I'm inserting uses only those instruments. Sounds a bit restrictive but it actually works out fine. A lot of songs in FireRed have instrument changes mid-song, so I found most of the voicegroups quite flexible.
I absolutely agree that it's confusing though, so that was my method, rather than actually changing the voicegroups.
TL;DR, mostly you'll have to edit a midi to make sure it "fits" over a FR one, but again, it's not quite as restrictive as it sounds. :)
March 5th, 2015 01:21 AMchrunchAh, alright. Thanks! The whole voicegroup thing confuses me honestly, if I have a song in midi form would I have to edit it to make sure it "fits" over a FR one with the voicegroup, and if so how you I know what to change and replace? It was hard enough to figure out how to loop. :P
March 3rd, 2015 05:44 AMgiradialkiaHi, sorry, didn't see this message :)
Not bothering me at all, but I'm afraid you'll have to do that yourself - my method of insertion is really basic and I'm sure people would frown upon it. All I do is make sure I'm using the same voicegroup as the song I'm replacing, and I think if I was certain the new song was longer than the old one, I'd assign it to a blank offset in the ROM. I never really encountered problems this way, so that's what I did when I inserted for you.
February 28th, 2015 06:37 PMchrunchHey, a while ago you inserted a couple of songs for my hack, I've been trying to figure out how to do it myself and I was wondering if I could ask you some questions. Did you edit any tables or offsets in my rom or expand the direct sound tracks? I'm not sure if I have to do all that myself or if it's been done already. Hope you don't mind me bothering you :P
September 23rd, 2013 04:40 PMgiradialkiaI know- that's why I felt bad and tried to do it again this time, but just couldn't manage it. >.< It's entirely my bad, so I hope it didn't delay you too much!
September 23rd, 2013 03:57 PMchrunchAlright. I just would have liked if you told me earlier that you couldn't do it all, or even at the start just told me you could only do one or two. :P
September 23rd, 2013 12:39 PMgiradialkiaAh. Now I feel bad again.
I'm really sorry dude, and I shouldn't have let it go on as long as I have without really showing any work, but I'll have to call it quits on that front- I just don't have the time to actively work on music/inserting/getting it to you regularly. Over the last couple weeks I've been busy with various real-life commitments, and now that I've returned to my third year at Uni, I reckon I'm only going to get busier.
I really am sorry to've wasted your time, I just felt bad about the first time I failed to deliver, and wanted to make up for it, so I ended up making a promise I couldn't keep. Sorry :(
September 22nd, 2013 03:54 AMchrunchNo problem. You got any idea if you can do the remaining music for cyan?
September 22nd, 2013 03:27 AMgiradialkiaI somehow missed this VM- sorry! Thanks :D
September 14th, 2013 12:10 AMchrunchI somehow missed your birthday :( Happy birthday anyways though!
May 13th, 2013 01:52 AMgiradialkiaYo!
Hi. I was on Skype the other day just thinking to myself, "Jeez, I haven't seen Chrunch in a good while". I scrolled through my contacts to see if you were online, and.. I couldn't see you at all!
A while back (before Christmas, I think!), I had to merge my Messenger and Skype accounts, and I'd have assumed you'd have carried over but I can only assume Skype didn't register you, for some reason (that or you deleted me as a contact, in which case this is awkward.. :P)
I was gonna PM you this but it says your Inbox is full, so I guess VMing is the next best thing :P I'd rather not share my Skype details publicly but I'm happy to PM them to you if you can clear one of them?
I've been really busy with college but over the last couple months, but I've been looking into music insertion and I could probably actually insert tracks that I made/make for you. I think I recall seeing your hack is on a bit of a hiatus but I'm still happy to make tracks for you when I have the time/if you're going to return to it!
Anyway, that's about it- hope to see you around sometime! :)
May 17th, 2012 02:15 AMchrunchI haven't really been on there much either, PC is more important to me and like I said I don't have much time. Ah, okay. I've had exams recently too but I'm near done with them now! So how's your hack going?
Request sent! :3
