Sounds like an accomplishment. I wanted to try doing some graphical ASM hacking, as far as I was thinking there wasn't going to be any features that require ASM in bonds. I may add something in the midst of the whole thing. I don't know maybe.
At any rate I'll see ya later, I'm going to log off and get some hacking work done. I'm aiming for an update every 2 days
Anyway, I'm still not that good at assembly though because I've this far managed to make slight changes by for example modifying the bit that's being copied to hl register (=a register pair that can store a full 2-byte address). That way, I made the game think that you've obtained the badge from Clair if using a trade pokemon in battle.
I do understand more complicated scripts too though but can't just put up much new myself yet.
GBA assembly ought to be a little easier though because the full rom data is copied to ram (at least I think so).
In GB/C, only rom bank 0 (0-3FFF) and other ram data (WRAM, video ram etc.) are always accessable.
Yeah I got the sign backwards, I thought I typed gen <III :P
Sure I'll see what I can muster up and hopefully by the end of the weekend you can bug test the hell outta Bonds ;)
As for ASM, I'm pretty sure the syntax/logic is all the same, considering that ASM is a programming language. The only thing that should change is the locations of the data and possibly what you have to do to manipulate it?
I'm not sure about Gen II, but in III, I'm sure that the locations for the data are always moving, I forget the term for it. So we have to work with pointers and stuff (as far as I can remember from the top of my head) ;)
Uhh...I'm actually hacking Gen II (Pokemon Silver) :D
You can find a thread of Dark Future in hacks showcase.
Anyway, I meant that I can be your beta-tester (because I do know how to search for bugs) and help you figuring out how to create something (for example a complicated script or asm (I'm not familiar with GBA ASM though so I might not be able to help with this a lot)).
Yeah, I thought about it and I decided that I'd like to continue anyways.
Sure, I think I'll take you up on that offer. I thought you were only hacking gen >III. Well at any rate tell me what you're good at/want to do and we'll work on finding out something for ya
I noticed you replied that you're going to finish Bonds anyway.
Well, for now I don't think I've that many things to do in Spring 2012 (although I may be wrong) so I could for example beta-test your hack if you want and assist you any other way as well if you need help figuring out how to do something special for instance
