I understand. Perhaps I don't get it because for me the instruments carry the meaning of a song, not the words. You could see how that would interfere with my ability to enjoy songs targeted at the opposite audience, couldn't you?
The thing that sticks out in my mind is a character from a video game being drawn wearing a 'vocaloid' outfit. That confused me to no end. xD
yeah, ever since the first release of vocaloid (and songs made with it), the voices insterted in vocaloid have gotten more expanded and such; they were given looks, even personalities, basically made into actual (anime) characters .
Though there's no real vocaloid anime .
Black★Rock Shooter looks a lot like Hatsune Miku though, which is why she's associated with vocaloid and stuff so much .. People are saying Black★Rock Shooter is the closest they'll ever get to a real vocaloid anime .
That's about all I can tell you about all of this.. XD;
Vocaloid is kindof a singing synthesizer program with which you can basically make computerized vocals by typing in lyrics and melody.. There's been a number of releases of the program, which include different kinds of voices. The first was the famous "Hatsune Miku", whose voice was also used for making the BlackRockShooter theme ;.
With her voice a load of songs have been made that became pretty popular, like 'World is Mine' and 'Melt'. Also she did a cover (I think?) of Ievan Polkka.. ever since that, Miku has often been pictured with a leek in her hand ;.
. . . hope that was enough for an explanation
Actually it's from an anime that's yet to be aired .. XD;
it's called 'Black★Rock Shooter' .
There's a vocaloid song of it already, i think that's what it will be based off .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWSeSlH-Gdw
that's the trailer to the anime .
if you search around youtube a bit more, it's not hard to find the full version of the song too .
I'm really looking forward to it XD;
