Hi there! How are you doing?
I was wondering if there's any chance to get this thread stickied, because it seems that some people, who would find what they're looking for in that thread, keep missing it.
Actually, yours was one I did get and overlooked- sorry about that. I recieved it along with like 4 other PMs at the time, and when that happens I sometimes forget to respond to some.
But, to me, your idea seems quite legit. Let me run it by colcolstyles and see his opinion on it- but I think it's pretty solid :) I'll get back to you soon (I won't forget to get back to you this time, haha :D)
Hmm, you've a good point there. Technically YOU would be making the game, and so it wouldn't really fall under copyright. At least I would assume it wouldn't- but, if you are planning to do the likes of this, I'd be checking with the Higher Staff just to be sure. I reckon it'd be okay, but to be honest I'm not too familiar with homebrew and stuff, and where it would lie in terms of rules/laws.
I see what you mean though, and by that logic it should be okay, but if you plan on doing it I recommend contacting a Higher Staff member about it first.
Thank you for the answer. But I'd like a clarification: does ROM linking rule apply to homebrews too? I think that that rule refers to copyrighted material only, doesn't it? In fact it says that the illegal distribution of material is forbidden, and a game developed from scratch shouldn't fall under the category. Don't you agree?
You didn't ask me this, but I wanted to give my input anyway:
hi there! how are you doing?
I was randomly wondering about something and have a doubt: if one were to make a Game Boy game from scratch (game development, not ROM hacking), do you think it would go in Emu/ROM Hacking section (where gameboy programming belongs) or in Game Development section (where games are developed "from scratch")?
So one would be making a game from scratch- thus, it'd fit in Games Development. BUT, it's technically be a ROM, and seeing as you'd be the only one who has the original ROM, you'd have a hard time distributing it here, as ROM linking is against the rules in every area of the forum, as I'm sure you're aware.
Miksy, unfortunately I had to remove the links you posted, as linking to other forums is against Community Rules. As they were helpful, I suggest VMing the user in question with them, although perhaps he already saw them.
I read it by pure chance, and I thought I should just post this here, for you.
