Hmmm... i think the goal is not to make us smarter, but to improve the quality of education here. The difference between the two is subtle, but enough to make a difference. I believe it is not the number of grade levels which makes them smarter. We are just generally inferior to them in ALL aspects. Because our education system sucks.
I completely agree with you. The main purpose is to make the Filipinos smarter since people from Singapore, South Korea etc have the same number of grades, but they are way smarter than us. Before implementing that, we should solve our current problems, it's like they care for education more than poverty.
Since the goal to that is to make us smarter, we should focus on our studies since the people here (especially the younger people) are more on Facebook, Youtube, Tetris etc etc. And the people with failing grades should be required for remedial classes imo :)
That's the only problem. We lack classroom, teachers, the proper facility for education. K+12 in its essence is not a bad thing; in fact, it will spur our country's economy, though indirectly. However, when considering other facts, that is where issues arise. You asked me if I am against K+12? No, I am not. However, I am against its immediate implementation. Right now is not the right time for K+12. make sure first that education is a right, not a privelage. And then we will talk about K+12. )
