Total agreement on the evil team thing. Haha, my 7k actually as a grunt killing a ten year old for going against Team Rocket. XD For the most part though, the ten year olds should be smart enough to not go against them.

Let's just say for the most part in the Pokemon world most parents are fine with their kids going on their Pokemon journey, but there are some that don't, considering the games don't show those type of parents.

I suppose you're right. It is possible. It's just that too many OTs have what I call the "Satoshi Complex". They're irritatingly immature and carefree, they have parents that apparently don't care, and nothing ever happens to them. They never get mugged, they never run into much serious trouble, and when they do (evil team much?) they blow it off with little trouble, occasionally dying and coming back in the process. Seriously, if I was Delia Ketchum, and for some reason had let Ash go off to be a Pokemon Master, I would have brought him back home straight after Mewtwo Strikes Back and never let him leave the house again. I'm in high school, and my parents are unsure about leaving me at home alone for an evening.

This is of course assuming that Pokemon characters are human like us. If they are some form of carbon-copy race with no parental instincts whatsoever, the point is moot.

Well, in the Pokemon world people actually believe ten year olds are capable of going to the world on their own with a fire breathing monster. That's the way it is. Don't say the people in the Pokemon world are nuts as it's like saying Portugal is nuts for having the drinking age be sixteen (have one Portugal friend :X). Different people from different places think different things.

...Sorry for going all ranty like that. XD I get a bit fed up that when someone says, "ten year olds aren't experienced enough!" and you aren't the first one. To tell you the truth, I think ten year olds are capable of traveling, even with not too much experience. Boy/Girl Scouts, yeah? XD Then again, I was never in that. ; Meh, in the end I won't be bothered by it that much. This is just my opinion and the characters' development will be more important.

Funny you should mention the part about purpose because I was reading a fic like that. Okay, so I'm a judge for this one shot contest at Serebii and I got this one entry which is short and has no plot. However, when I reviewed, I didn't write, "Too short, no action, last place." Instead, I reread it a couple more times to get what kind of purpose that writer did for the story and after I realized that, it made me love the one shot more, actually. I then went and review how the concept is very original and I would never thought of that before.
