October 5th, 2012 11:24 AMBarrelsAs far as conversation killers go, try, 'this room's quite rectangular, isn't it?' (Copyright Charlie Brooker, but I'm only borrowing. ) And yay for you, getting accepted and things! I like acceptance. It fills me with a warm glow, which is then usually doused with the cold water of existence. But hey ho.
At least he's your neighbour, though! :D So you're sort of guaranteed to see him lots, right? (Proximity will bring you together. You look at that sentence and tell me I'm wrong.)
Oh, and does he like bread?
October 4th, 2012 10:56 PMpokemaster0823It's going... interestingly. I got accepted into my English Education program!
And I kind of sort of really like my neighbor. But I suck at flirting so while everyone else is already in a relationship with the guy they like I'm just like "So... do you like bread?"
October 4th, 2012 12:42 PMBarrelsOh yeah, that's where I've seen her! MyMusic! I approve.
It goes much the same as it ever did, 'cept with the addition of several spanners and a Stanley. >:3 Yourself?
October 3rd, 2012 04:06 PMpokemaster0823Grace Helbig. :D
She's kind of my favorite person ever in the whole world GAH
Well, how's it going? :D
October 2nd, 2012 08:19 PMpokemaster0823GUESS. WHAT.
COLLEGE IS A TIME SUCK.
I HATE EVERYTHING.
I HATE THAT I CAN'T KEEP PROMISES TO STAY ACTIVE.
August 12th, 2012 12:53 PMpokemaster0823They should make me a mod. Instead of locking threads, I can just reply to them. xD Oh well. I'LL NEVER STOP TRYING. I WON'T STOP.
Next thing you know, the forum is dead and it's all my fault. HAHAHA.
August 12th, 2012 10:21 AMBarrelsYou totally are, it's true. I genuinely read this and somehow forgot to reply so YOUR MAD THREAD KILLING POWERZ, THEY EXTEND TO THIS TOO. xD
♪ this is the part of meeee that you're never gonna ever take away from meeee YO ♪
August 10th, 2012 12:56 PMpokemaster0823I think I'm literally a thread killer. I'll post in a thread and then NO ONE ELSE RESPONDS EVER.
DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE A PLASTIC BAG
August 6th, 2012 06:25 AMBarrelsOh right! *facepalms* Still, high school English ftw. ;D You can be a dancing writing book-devourer! Teaching classics through interpretative dance! YES YES YES.
And yeah, if you film anything, totally bung me and Andy a link! That'd be awesome.
August 5th, 2012 01:38 PMpokemaster0823Oops, I should have been more clear. I'm not going to be a dance teacher, I'm going to teach high school English! I am going to study dance as a minor, though.
Yeah, a mashup would be fun. It would be almost impossible though. I can always try! Haha. :D I'll definitely film the first few dances out of those I choreograph. I've had a pretty dry period. I just haven't been feeling choreography lately...
August 5th, 2012 05:20 AMBarrelsSo much music! :D I feel like a bloated cat in a cake shop - sampling all these irresistible little cuplinks. But my knowledge has been increased pound for pound! (I kinda had this impression in my head that jazz was a guy with a sax and maybe some tambourines. How wrongy wrong I was.)
I'd never actually thought of anyone dancing to Breathe Me (or Coldplay for that matter), but I can see how that'd work now I think about it. :D Your skillset is wide, m'friend. You should totally do, like, a mash-up of every song you gave me and film it. INTERNET SENSATION AHOY! xD
So you're gonna be a dance teacher? :D That sounds awesome. (Incidentally, I'm picturing it right now as a class of tutus with your avatar up front, despite the fact that I've actually seen a picture of you. xD I dunno.) And that banjo was much appreciated...
August 3rd, 2012 07:53 PMpokemaster0823Oh lawd, I'm definitely not professional. I have problems with injuries, and there's a good chance I have osteoarthritis in my knees, so I'm physically incapable of keeping up with a professional company, unfortunately. I would have loved to dance for the Joffrey for a few years before beginning my teaching career. :/
As far as music, it's hard to describe. Especially for jazz, because that style of dance can be taken in so many directions. I'll just give you an example for each style of dance I do, haha.
Ballet or Pointe: This is a personal favorite of mine- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtVl2Q9v8hA
Tap: Sounds like it wouldn't fit tap, but trust me, I love it. xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxmf2o3GotY
Jazz: For contemporary jazz, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sNi9nIXxVo.
For classical jazz- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF2EV93s6Yk.
For "jazz funk"- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-HSlgjLfdg
There's so many other variations of jazz, but those are the main ones I do. Anyway, continuing. xD
Hip Hop: I can do some mean choreography to more "pop-ish" artists like Beyonce, Destiny's Child, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_y3MdOxtL0
Or if it's more like hardcore hip hop- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaaKglEVgUI
I don't really do Acro a whole lot anymore, because all of my injuries kind of stunted my ability to contort myself like that, but pretty much anything instrumental goes well. I like to use Cirque du Soleil music.
For Modern, you can pretty much use anything, but I prefer instrumental. My favorite so far is the song we used for recital this year. http://www.last.fm/music/Oliver+Kraus/_/Kalimbeth
And last but not least, Lyrical. The music would be preferably slow, and it has to display great emotion. Some songs I like:
One of these days, I'll get around to filming my own choreography. I have little mini combinations in my head for almost all of these songs. I just need to stop being lazy and finish them. xD
If you can't tell, I love talking about dance. xD
Oh, and wolves and banjos a bonus? How about just banjos?
Pretty good for a lyrical- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL_Ye0h5xEI
August 3rd, 2012 11:45 AMBarrelsThat's... still... like, seven-and-a-half hours. :O I think I'd drop after ten minutes - don't you get tired? (Answer: no, no, of course you don't, because you're all pro and stuff. ) What kinda music do you dance to? Well, jazz, obviously, but give me something I can YouTube. xD Wolves and banjos a bonus...
August 2nd, 2012 08:08 AMpokemaster0823Well, my studio kind of uses the term "dance intensive" pretty loosely. Dance intensives are usually one week long with classes everyday from somewhere around 7 AM- 4 PM. It's pretty much every style, too. At my studio, it's just two days a week, but you only study one discipline, and the classes are from 3:00-6:45. So instead of spending an hour per class everyday, you're just spending 3 hours and 45 minutes on one class twice a week. I took Jazz, since that's one of my strengths and I wanted to take a somewhat simple class for my last summer.
