Floatzel has slightly higher Attack so it would make better use of Waterfall than Surf.

Idk. I need Surf to get Tentacool anyways so he's kinda out. I'm about to say screw it and just get Floatzel.

Yeah, I had so much problems with choosing a Water-type in this game.

Why don't you look up Tentacruel on like Bulbapedia or something?

This game really lacks water types if you don't choose Empoleon. I always chose him and caught me a Houndour, but finding a water to replace Empoleon I realize there isn't a lot. I could go all noob and get Gyarados, the only problem is that Surf will suck cos his Sp. Atk is really low. Is Tentacruel any good? I've never used him.

You can catch Mantyke north of Sunyshore City, so it's near the end of the main story. Also, you need a Remoraid with you to evolve Mantyke into Mantine.

I don't really recommend it cos its stats focus too much on Sp. Defense.

I've used Golduck before, I thought he was pretty good. Kinda wish he was psychic/water type tho. For the longest time I thought he shared types but found out he was only water. I've never seen one but is it possible to get Mantine?

Another good Water-type you can try is Golduck, I used one in a previous playthrough and its stats aren't all that bad.

I thought you needed to go up a floor or something no matter which game it was?? I'll keep my eye out for a Gible then, it will be really useful.

Unlike in D/P, you can get Gible (Garchomp's lowest stage) as soon as you get your second badge. There's a secret entrance to the Wayward Cave directly under Cycling Road.

I also started with Infernape on my current Platinum run.

If you need a Flying-type to fly you around, you should go with Staraptor. It has good Speed and Attack plus it gets Close Combat allowing it to counter most of its weaknesses.

That Gardevoir is Emerald all over again. That's a good idea for Thunderbolt, I completely forgot about that. That's what I did in Emerald. Calm Mind/Thunderbolt was killer. I think I'm gonna do that again. I've never used Quagsire so I might give it a go. It's ground type will be useful until I get Garchomp.

I've given you some suggestions for your Platinum team.

You could just teach the TM for Thunderbolt to your Gardevoir.
