It isn't that bad, but Bug Types grind surprisingly slow. It's kind of a pain. xD
So you won't be using any Twist Mountain Pokemon then? I mean, you won't necessarily lose them to Brycen if you're careful, but risk taking is bad in Nuzlockes, isn't it?
I can't really imagine. Whenever I get lights it's flashing, from nerves, obviously. Is it just light. Nothing else, or is there picture to go along?
I kind of wish they would have a permanent girl. One that's good for something, preferably. That's just me being...well, female, though. And to add on, I wish they'd at least hint some more mature themes (not M rated mature, but maybe beyond your typical ten year old). I guess that;s what the games and manga are for. :/
I think I will soon. I got past the worst of it, at least.
YOU SAW NOTHING.

I take it the Bug-monotype is going well? :]
I remember there being Excadrill and Boldore lurking around. Of course that means a sure-fire way to lose them both if I'm challenging an Ice-Type Gym. I went through Twist-Mountain during Winter too. Easier than any other time of year, that's for sure.
It does give you fainting spells. I know that 3 times in my life I've experienced periods that last up to minutes at a time where I see extremely bright lights. Not that whole, light at the end of the tunnel sensation, but I'm sure comparison wise it's pretty much the same thing.
I really don't understand any of Ash's decisions, and quite frankly, I don't really care for him anymore. I'm just waiting for the day that they decide a new poster-boy/girl is needed.
Oh well I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you get better soon.
Well that's a relief xD I thought I was going to be a witness to a crime or something.

Has anyone ever told you that Metapod and Kakuna are terrible Pokemon? Because they are. What Pokemon are even in Twist Mountain? I honestly can't remember at all. I heard that Twist Mountain is difficult to navigate too...but I think I actually went through it in the winter (my DS clock was really messed up.).
Vertigo gives you flashing lights? I did not know that.
Why does he not catch Pokemon anyways? That's kind of a terrible strategy. But then, what does strategy really have to do with it? xP
Well right now it's 7:45 PM here, but as a I said, I've been sick for a few days. That is to say, I get tired very quickly. It only took a short nap to recover from.
Oh, and I said I was dying because I was very very tired. The skin looks fine just so long as nobody messes with the font and text colour. xD

I just got the Jet Badge! :] Used all of Skyla's Pokemon, too. I had quite a long battle with my Swanna versus her own. That battle went on for the longest time. And she kept spamming Air Slash, which somehow kept getting a critical hit, so I almost lost Ducky twice. Luckily though, I made it through and got the badge. Now it's on to Iccirus City ... [sigh ... with no Vanillite by my side]… Looks like I'm going to be using Darmanitan and Emboar ... Hopefully I get another Type advantage in Twist Mountain ...
Well I have vertigo, so flashing lights for me means ... well, I don't know what that means, but it's obviously not good.
I saw the episode where he found his own Venipede (why the heck didn't he catch it?), that pretty much made me kinda disappointed seeing as he never catches anything besides starters and Pokemon you can get on the first few Routes.
Hey, no rush. But, out of curiosity, what time is it where you are? Because I usually don't go to sleep at 7:00PM x]
Well of its that bad, don't stress your eyes with it?
July 18th, 2012 2:58 PMStarsprite
I do too, actually. If I see that I have the same Pokemon as a Gym Leader, I'll switch it in. It's kind of like, "mine is better than yours." So wait, what part of the game are you at now, I forgot to ask.
Oh, they aren't really lights. It has to do with the nerves in my brain or, and it also happens when I get really hungry, oddly enough. My mother has it too, and apparently it isn't a problem.
I actually think I watched his Gym Battle when it was on TV one day. The one with Grovyle and his Luvdisc. I was a scarce watcher of the anime during Hoenn. I don't like it at all anymore though. I watched a Best Wishes episode, and it was just different. The voice actor for Scolipede makes me laugh though.
Alright. Well I need to sleep, cause I'm sick and it's about to knock me unconscious, but I'll post an SU when I get back.
Well yes. It's difficult to read white text on a white background. Bleh. Going to die now.
July 18th, 2012 2:40 PMCrumbledCandyWrapper
Let me think. I didn't really keep track of levels, more than just the evolutions. So by the tine I'd reached Burgh I already had Emboar and when I reached Elesa I had Herdier (late evolution) and Zebstrika came a little while before the Gym challenge too. I didn't use my Panpour, so he was massively underleveled, and I ended up training him after Elesa when I got on Route 4. Luckily though it payed off because I didn't lose any Pokemon. I even used my Zebstrika against hers. Using the same Pokemon the Gym leader uses is actually kind of fun to me for some reason x]
My eyes squint so low that lights aren't even a factor ... its only about the sharpness by that point.
Actually I don't know WHAT it was. x] I just saw him on one of the Hoenn league episodes and just put it in my head that he was indiscriminately amazing. So yes, it was the mustache
Tell me about it. But you'll get accustomed to it sooner or later. Later, more than likely, but still...
Like white maybe? But I actually never used that one. I've really only used about 5 layouts so far. This Black2 being the longest running.
July 18th, 2012 2:00 PMStarsprite
Oh. Shiny Clause. I forgot that even existed. That makes sense then, especially with how much time you spent in the forest. How high leveled were you when you got out, because I'd think you were massively overleveled. (which would be necessary if you wanted to not lose any Pokemon to Elesa, I guess.)
Well I prefer to enjoy my games without the joys of flashing lights interrupting my vision, if you know what I mean.
Juan? IT WAS THE MUSTACHE WASN'T IT?
Okay. But it is a scary place. ;w;
I'm using 'slooooopooooke,' the April Fools Theme. It's just that the background is white, which doesn't look good with certain colours and fonts.
July 18th, 2012 1:16 PMCrumbledCandyWrapper
x] I had a feeling you'd like Nancy!Spoiler:
It's the only way to game! x]
The only reason I knew about Juan's age was because of my slight fanboy phase over him. Wallace I'm not sure about x]
If you DO, which you should, you'd have my character to keep you company at least. And my character knows 4 other characters too, so I'm sure you'll get accustomed to everything soon enough.
What skin are you using, by the way? Sounds like it's affecting more than your layout, but the thread's layout too ...
July 18th, 2012 12:54 PMStarspriteQuote:Nancy the Lilligant
Okay. I approve. You have a Lilligant. Though that does lead me to ask, how did you get so many, and shinies too, if you're only allowed to catch the first Pokemon on any given route?
I squint till I get migraines playing console games too. No regrets. xD
Well is Steven's age listed, because I believe he and Wallace are supposed to be somewhere around the same age.
So I really am thinking about posting an SU for PTA. It just seems a little bit complicated. Or maybe it's because the layout is difficult to read on the skin I'm using. xP
July 18th, 2012 12:45 PMCrumbledCandyWrapper
Hmm. All of my Pokemon are:Spoiler:
(That was actually way more than I really thought I had o.o) *Lenn and Lenny are Shinies :D
My sight is dirt poor too, but if a console version came out like that, I'd squint til I got migraines x]
I know Juan is like 60+ (Bulbapedia), I'm not to sure of Wallace though. And that is a good question. I think that someone younger than Juan should have been asked to take over the Gym. Maybe a grandson or something?
July 18th, 2012 12:27 PMStarsprite
Well I think letting an overleveled Pokemon go would be a bad idea, but I trust that you realize that. So what other Pokemon do you have, out of curiosity?
But aren't the games the canon? I don't really like Ash and his friends, and the way they battle. Plus my sight is somewhat below par, so I'd have trouble thinking fast like that. xD
Well I've done some crazy grinding before, but that is not an example of it. Yep. Actually, Steven resigned from being Champion to go wander around, and Wallace, the previous 8th Gym Leader took over, and then him mentor Juan took back over for him in the Gym.
So the real question is, why come out of retirement to take over?
Then again, I can't really gauge the ages of either of them. xP
July 18th, 2012 12:07 PMCrumbledCandyWrapper
See, normally yes, that'd be begging for an unnecessary death toll. But my Pokemon are overleveled (37, 38 & 39 compared to 33, 33, & 35). Plus, my Swoobat knows Charge Beam, I was so surprised when I learned the TM's most Pokemon can use, so I imagine I'll be just fine this time around. Anything that happens this time would have to be better than when my Vanillite died from a Rock Slide in Driftveil City ... :[
Yeah, their games don't disappoint often. I'm still quietly waiting for the day that they finally release a Pokemon game where the battles are more canon based. I hate taking turns in battle when Ash and his friends can use his Pokemon in all these ludicrous ways ... -.-
You DON'T have a Lvl 47 Butterfree? ... oh ... *ahem* yes well... I was actually somewhat surprised. It takes a real dedicated grinder to level up a Butterfree that much on the first Gym. And I think Wallace is the Champion this time around if I'm not mistaken? Either way they have Milotic (Ice+Bug= :O ), so I think I'm pretty much screwed either way.
A better question would be: Why in the world would the Champion quit his job just to be a Gym Leader again?
July 18th, 2012 11:53 AMStarsprite
I thought that limiting yourself within the limitations of your Nuzlocke (only using three Pokemon on a gym leader) was something of a mistake. You are going to switch if you have too many problems, right?
Well I'm going to continue buying their games, regardless. This is a winning battle on their part.
You do realize that I don't actually have a level 47 Butterfree yet, right? I don't think I could have leveled it up nearly that fast. But yes, a chore is definitely a way to describe it. Also, I was about to tell you you'd have trouble when you got to Steven, but he isn't the champion in Emerald anymore, is he?
July 18th, 2012 11:45 AMCrumbledCandyWrapper
I usually run back and forth between Cities/Pokemon Centers when needed. The routes are like denizens of hell itself. Fighting through those makes me feel invincible come the actual Gym battles, which is usually always the case. I'm sitting in front of Skyla now. Best part is that I have every Pokemon she has (Swoobat, Unfezant and Swanna), and I plan to ONLY use those three to challenge her :]
Absolutely! What other reason is there? xD
Sounds like it's quite the chore already. You kind of inspire me to do an Emerald Bug-monotype. Although realistically speaking, I dont think that'd be much of a challenge ...Winona, Flannery and Roxanne excluded, that is ...
July 18th, 2012 11:36 AMStarsprite
Huh. Well this isn't my argument, so I'll just stay out of it.
The routes? You mean you don't run back to a Pokemon Center compulsively? I do that even when I don't have to. One Pokemon missing 20 HP? Pokemon Center.
You think they do it just to torment us? xD
Well I don't think it's going to take that much, especially with status inducing moves. I have my team planned out now, though, and it's going to be a pain to get through this game, I can tell.
