December 29th, 2012 12:49 PMLilizukiI think the biggest issue would be the money it costs to buy the sourcebooks. Those thangs are expensive. :s
Stop looking so closely! ;P
Those darn humans, always getting in our way! The popularity of half-elves is kinda surprising, but I guess it's a good point between alien beauty and the familiar... Han Solo is glorious. :3
*has never actually read/watched The Hunger Games* Don't burn me at the stake!
December 29th, 2012 12:38 PMClaire*Yeah, I might have to do that. I'd rather not jump right into one at a convention... ;
Yes, I do see.
Haha, human bias! Join the minority mystical creatures association! We demand equality now! It was good idea to keep it vague, I've tried doing that to an extent. I was thinking about a magic using, Han solo type, female elf at one time. But, plans change. :3
December 29th, 2012 12:33 PMLilizukiI hear they sometimes run them at conventions, but they're apparently really expensive regardless. Maybe you could ask at your local gaming store, if you have one?
And you can see where Mimi's boldness comes from. :v
Yeah, it was. Elves have about two hundred words and a single nation, while humans have more lore than Tolkien's sock drawer. I mostly kept the specifics (Form of society, type of homes) vague and focused on the character's pre-game arc. But, I had to check with Raikiri about the brand of magic I was planning to use. He was pretty amiable about it.
An archer would have been my next choice, though. There's something fascinating about bows, but I can't quite put my finger on it. d:
December 29th, 2012 12:25 PMClaire*I must try it some day, I've always been meaning to do so. *sigh*
I guess you can see where Anna's awkwardness comes from. lol
A little. I've taken some liberties, however. Hopefully I can get them passed for approval. How about you, was it troubling for your character?
December 29th, 2012 12:22 PMLilizukiIt can certainly wander into extreme nerdiness (This is me pretending to be an expert, despite having only played it online), but it's just some good fun, in the end. More social than reading a book, at least. :v
Are you having any trouble coming up with a decent background for your dwarf? There's so little information for dwarves and elves compared to the humans...
December 29th, 2012 12:16 PMClaire*The concept grew on me too. It took some time, but I came around. No, I never have. Kind of wish I had friends IRL who were into that kind of stuff. They all deem it too nerdy...
Not really "often", but once or twice. That's why I'm typically tightlipped about character concepts. It looks like I might be the last to this rodeo however. So I'm not really stressed about it. haha xD
December 29th, 2012 12:11 PMLilizukiAt first, I didn't know whether I liked the concept of fun, but it was actually quite enjoyable. I forget; did you say you've played tabletop games before?
Nice of you to offer, but no thanks. ;P
Does that happen often around these parts? I will admit that I worry about others "stealing" my concept before I've written out a character sheet, which is why I clear the nearest hour and write like crazy to get it done. :x
December 29th, 2012 12:03 PMClaire*Fun is where it's at, don't you know? :3
Lol, a nibble if you will? :v
Yeah, I try and do the same. I hate when I think I have a great character only to discover that somebody already beat me to the concept...
December 29th, 2012 11:55 AMLilizukiI have to say, Jim is my favorite of them all. He doesn't give a care about anything but fun. :3
Nothing wrong with a good bite here and there. :v
I'm always looking up tropes to improve my writing. Crystia is heavily based on the trope of an Agent of Chaos, for example, with a few moments of Jerkass God and Strange Girl. I just need to add a theme song to her character sheet, and she'll be in Nerdvana.
December 29th, 2012 11:50 AMClaire*Yes, I love Darths and Droids. :3
Good, it would have gotten ugly...
Hey, have to indulge in a trope every now and then. haha.
