December 29th, 2012 10:02 AMClaire*Soo... I guess we won't be RPing in smash brothers anymore...
December 12th, 2012 05:04 PMClaire*Haha, so true.
I'll have to check him out. I like people who express opinions in calm and measured ways, not rage-y. I hope Disney can do better. I guess we shall see.
December 12th, 2012 09:50 AMLilizukiYusss. I wish Bioware would re-use that archetype for once, instead of Carth three more times.
He does lots of analysis and criticizing about videogames; Shamus Young is who I go to when I need to know why something is bad. Not in a rage-y way, but because he actually likes them :v Yeah...the prequels were not so great. :x Maybe Disney can do something better? Maybe? ...perhaps?
Haha! I'll have to VM you for translations. ;P
December 12th, 2012 09:12 AMClaire*Jolee was pretty great. Such a sassy, snarky, bitter, jaded man. I loved him. :3
No, I haven't heard of Shamus Young. I hate when things have so much potential yet so little pay off. *Cough* Star Wars Prequels *Cough*
You'll find it funny after talking about this, but, I speak Russian. xD
December 11th, 2012 05:48 PMLilizuki*my parents
December 11th, 2012 05:47 PMLilizukiI only played through it once, but I thought it was great. Jolee Bindo, especially.
I love a good rant when smarter people than me are doing it. I don't know whether you've ever heard of Shamus Young? Sorry to bring up bad memories! If it makes you feel better, I share your pain; the Mass Effect series had more promise than what it ended up as.
Not really. I wasn't very academic when I was a kid, so I just never learned. I think my liked being able to converse privately when I was around, too. Do you know any other languages?
December 11th, 2012 04:20 PMClaire*Kotor, how I love thee. <3 Sorry...just a really big kotor fan.
I do enjoy listening to a good rant now and then. I do know about the ME3 ending debacle. I'm still miffed about it to this day. *grumble* crappy endings *grumble*... better not to relive the pain...
Pretty neat that your mom is Russian. You never picked up the language?
December 11th, 2012 04:57 AMLilizukiSame here. No matter what they do now, there's still KotoR and BG2. :3
Haha...you do not want to me hear start ranting. I hung around on a fan forum where I was the only one who disliked ME2, for problems with the filler-plot etc, and then ME3 came around...and I don't think I need to say anything more about that. Assuming you've heard about the ending debacle?
Unfortunately, I don't speak any language other than English, despite my mother being Russian. And I do like tactical RPGs...so I'll look out for it, thanks!
December 11th, 2012 12:27 AMClaire*One can only hope. I used to really like Bioware. I guess I still do to an extent.
It's not that I've written it off, I'm not a huge fan of shooters. Oh you can't just stop with that! There's a story behind that Mass Effect comment. Grinding is kind of a staple with JRPGs. I think it has gotten better over the years, but kind of still there.
A real classic would be Chrono Trigger. That's going back a few years however. I think a lot of the recent ones are kind of lacking (Unless you read or speak Japanese. A lot of them don't get properly ported anymore.) Valkyria Chronicles was a lot of fun. That was more Tactical RPG however.
December 11th, 2012 12:13 AMLilizukiHopefully Bioware will learn their lesson this time.
Ha, a lot of people write it off before playing it, but I have a soft-spot for the Halo series. :3 Oh, Mass Effect I have a rough history with. Let's just say i thought the first game was good. Yeah, I know. D: It's just that JRPGs have this reputation for egregious grinding, too, so I haven't had the enthusiasm to find the better ones...
Maybe you could recommend some?
