Japanese to English can be pretty difficult to translate because there are some words and phrases that have no true English equivalent so it's up to the translator to try to make it work. The same goes for just generally forming sentences. Fan translators get a lot of flak for their translations because there are ALWAYS haters. Be too literal and you'll have people whine about how you need to loosen up a bit. Be too loose and you'll have people up your ass about how you're straying from the original message. People in general suck.
XD you could always become a translator. (Although Japanese would be pain to learn just for that sake). I always wanted to move to Japan for a period of time although I would a have to become more knowledgeable in Japanese, become used to speaking it/immersed properly to it, and it would be difficult finding somewhere to live... I always felt that if I did learn Japanese I would have to replay/watch all of the VN/anime Ive play through just for the sake of interpreting it the exact way it was meant to be read.
Haha. Visual novels, both NSFW and otherwise, are a hobby of mine. I'd enjoy having more big-name titles professionally translated to English, like Umineko but with the PS3 character images because the PC ones are terrifying.
