I will most certainly be coming to PC more from now on. I definitely won't be "active", but I can at least respond to messages and send them when need be.
Also, you ARE great and you WILL be accepting gifts from Jo and I this year. Being flat broke is good when you're a dedicated student like yourself, so don't worry about it. Trust me, I'm not nearly selfless enough to give things I need myself.
I'm pretty sure the brand of pens used in most schools in India is "Airmail". They're decent pens, but are literally as cheap as can be. There are some fantastic Indian manufacturers like Ranga and Diplomat, but their pens can be expensive. Instead, I'm getting you a TWSBI 580 in Rose Gold with a Medium nib and a bottle of Noodler's Bulletproof Black ink. I personally use both that pen and ink on a near daily basis and have been nothing but happy with them, so I bet you'll like them both in one way or another.
Honestly, even if you never use the pen it'll be the sort of thing you can just have and look at occasionally. Think of it as a utilitarian object that no longer has a purpose in this world (that's what I do!).
If you do ever decide to use it, I'll be able to teach you anything you could ever want to know, even from ~5,000 miles away. Also, YouTube is all-knowing, so there's nothing to worry about there. I'm not 100% sure how to go about shipping things to India and such, but I'm sure it can't be much harder than doing the same with Japan and China. Most of the yoyos I've bought recently have come directly from Japan and their postal system is very complicated (mostly because I can't read Japanese). Jo and I figured it out, though, and everything worked out fine. If there's going to be any postal drama, we'll figure it out before we send anything so you won't have to deal with it on your end.
Bottom Line: You're pretty damn great. Thank you for being such a great friend to me and Jo. Accept our gifts and keep being great!!!
I'm not great. ;_____; also, I don't know anything about fountain pens. Actually, that's because I never used any other pen apart from the ones available at a very cheap ass price (think a few cents - 4-5 cents, at most). Also, how are you gonna send it to me? Something that you and Jo gift me...I'll treasure it forever. <3 But I never ever got anything sent to me by people abroad. So idk if there are taxes and stuff involved and all that shizz. You are aware I'm flat out broke, right? Haha.
Either way, thank you so much for this! I really, really, really, really appreciate it. Thamk you! <3
First of all, I'm buying you a fountain pen for Chirstmas. Please know that there's nothing you can do to stop it, so the best thing you can do is give in and accept it.
Second, I need to know what sorts of pens are available to you in your local shops so I don't buy you something you have easier access to than I do! India has one of the best selections of locally made fountain pens in the world, so my plan is to get you something from either Japan or the US that would be difficult to come across locally.
I've got to say, I'm really happy that Alexial has been keeping me up-to-date on the PC going's on over the years. Her and I live together and have been doing pretty much everything together for years now, so finally adding PC to the list of things I can participate in is just great. By the way, we're watching the Rising trailer you sent over right now!
You and the other A&D members have been so good to her and me in the short time I've been here, so thank you! I hope to somehow contribute to A&D however I can, but not being an artist is going to make my comments a little flat. My only frames of reference lie in the yoyo, fountain pen, and jazz circles, so maybe I'll be able to add a little outside perspective from time to time, but on the whole I'll just try to be encouraging.
Haha, glad to hear she called me a 'good guy'. Totally had the impression she'd label me as a 'troll who writes unnecessary walls of text'. :p But in all seriousness, yeah, it really feels nice that I got a mention when she told you about PC. Honestly, there aren't many people who discuss their online friendships with their real life friends/family members so it is a pretty big thing. <3; And well, people's posts speak for themselves. The post you made in alex's thread a few days ago and the one where you responded to people in your intro thread, although long, were definitely quality posts. I don't really see new members responding to queries or welcome posts if not for the usual short but effective "Thank you very much for the warm welcomes". Your post was a welcome change. :]
I'm honestly looking forward to you posting around more over here. The section that she and I moderate has been a little dead for a while so we definitely need all the help that we can get. If you can manage to post around a bit in A&D, it'd definitely be awesome and make both of us happy. And judging by the quality of your post in alex's thread, I'm sure that all the other artists will appreciate you doing that as well. But yeah, no pressure! ;p Congrats on getting new computers, though! I'm sure Jo'll make good use of it. Her art is amazing and she needs all the encouragement she can get. <3; Also, this -
All the people here at PC have been nothing but supportive and lovely about it, so adding my voice to the chorus seems like the thing to do!
You know what? That's just really sweet of you to say.
Anyway, I tend to end up writing a lot too while responding back. So I'll just end it here. I look forward to getting to know you, too! :]
You've been awesome so far.
Jo has told me a little about you, but just that you're both modding A&D and that you're a good guy. I'm glad I've been able to make a decent first impression here!
I plan to stick around and I'll likely be online at the same times that Jo is. My real goal is just to get to know the people/places/things that make PC such an attractive place and to finally be able to support Jo in what she does here. Only recently has she started seriously getting into digital art, so I figure anything I can do to become more familiar with it can only help.
I got very lucky and was able buy each of us a nice new computer, so now she can actually take her art to the next level. All the people here at PC have been nothing but supportive and lovely about it, so adding my voice to the chorus seems like the thing to do!
Anyways, I'm excited to get to know you and the rest of Jo's online friends as time goes on. I'm almost always very long-winded when typing, so I'll cut myself off here to avoid my first words to you being a dense wall of disconnected greetings.
