March 21st, 2013 11:28 PMAslanOh ouch grocery shopping ;_____;, I think I've fallen asleep a couple of times while doing it actually. XD;
March 21st, 2013 11:26 PMHikamaruI'm back on the server, and yeah I'm doing great.
Fridays is when I have to go grocery shopping, hate it... ugh.
March 21st, 2013 11:18 PMAslanHiiiiikari you should get on the server. n_n
Also how have you been lately? :3
March 20th, 2013 11:00 PMAslanMm, I hardly know 5th gen to be completely honest, I can name most of the Pokemon encountered in Unova but when it comes to naming gym leaders, items and places, I'm hopeless haha. It's probably because I was never really a fan of the generation, it didn't have the same spark for me as the 4th and I'm still trying to understand why. I was pretty lazy back then when I started playing it though so I just think I had lost a little enthusiasm for Pokemon at the time, but now that it's been mentioned, perhaps I'll start playing it again and pick up again from Clay. :3
Oh haha it's alright, when I played Platinum I didn't know HM moves weren't deletable unless you went to the Move Deleter. I ended up teaching my Infernape two HM moves and Close Combat along with a weak fire-type move. The good old days :')! But those sorts of mistakes are also fun to do, it gives you a challenge and also you can learn for next time.
Ah yeah I remember you saying you liked Dawn, I've watched maybe around ten episodes of the Sinnoh saga? I sort of lost my enthusiasm for the anime after it repeatedly aired episodes again and again, it just got really repetitive and boring for me x_x. I still pick Piplup every time I play actually, there's something I like about water-types but I can't figure that out either. Although every once and a while I like trying new things, new experiences!
I don't particularly like working with slow Pokemon either although usually the slowness is often overcome by the fact of its bulkiness and strength, which I like. I used to always aim for the fastest, the speediest, the hardest hitters but I've learnt it's also great to throw in a bit of variety into your team, walls, spike setters, rain dancers, it helps in competitive play at least.
Chimchar hmm. I was never too fond of it surprisingly, something about it threw me off. I thought it's design was cool and sleek but in Platinum there were so many unique fire-types that easily beat Infernape for me such as Houndoom and Magmortar, although yeah it was a great starter.
Piplup was amazing, despite not having the strongest water moves, I liked how the stats were all balanced well instead of focused on maybe one or two. The steel-type thrown in was nice, except the ground weakness was a bit irritating especially when dealing with Pokemon that had Earthquake, that was its flaw for me when facing Cynthia, although that was only one battle so I can't complain too much. :x
March 20th, 2013 10:48 PMHikamaruThanks, 4th Gen is my second most knowledgeable Pokemon generation, behind 5th Gen. I remember playing Diamond for the first time and I was not even aware that there were so few Fire-types in the main story, and my starter was Piplup back then (I only picked it because I wanted to be like Dawn in the anime) because I was in my Dawn Fangirlism mode back then but now it's Chimchar I pick in most of my playthroughs just because I love monkeys and Infernape suits my playing style of fast, offensive sweeper.
With the starters in 4th Gen, Turtwig does have solid defenses and it's not that bad of a Grass-type plus it gains Earthquake after evolving into Torterra, and coming off Torterra's Ground-type giving it STAB it hits hard. The Turtwig line's low Speed however doesn't sync well with my usual battling style.
Chimchar's line is the one that suits my style best, fast and hard-hitting. As an Infernape it gets some powerful moves like Flare Blitz and Close Combat, and it evolves earlier than the other two early on so that it isn't impaired by Roark's Rock-types. I was always satisfied when I picked Chimchar, which is odd since I'm usually the kind who chooses Water starters.
Piplup may have the cute factor, and it does get a Steel-type as Empoleon, but the problem Piplup faces throughout the game is the fact its level-up moves don't hit very hard, BubbleBeam is alright but it won't be a true powerhouse until you get Surf, and that's after the 5th badge which is like more than halfway through the game. At least Empoleon has loads of resistances. It still makes a neat Water-type though, and Water starters tend to have useful stats.
In 5th Gen, I did like B/W better story-wise but B2/W2 had the better features.
March 20th, 2013 10:36 PMAslanYou know your 4th Gen well Hikari :3. The lack of fire-types was irritating, seeing as they were a powerful and also a good type to have handy on your team. I think most people liked Piplup and Turtwig as well so it must of been frustrating if they disliked Ponyta but wanted a good fire type attacker, you know what I mean?
The Distorion World was a wonderful place, I think the creators put a lot of time thinking and developing this place, the storyline behind it was creative and interesting, the design overall was sleek and eerie. Also it is interesting the idea of Cyrus wanting to end the Pokemon universe, that was deep. It wasn't like the usual stealing Pokemon as seen with Team Rocket they went a whole lot deeper with the villains as well which I personally liked.
I never did either to be honest haha, actually I recently played Crystal but on a solo run. It was good fun, you should try it some time honestly! Yeah there was a great postgame, I do hope they put in the exploration of two regions in later games, to add more things to do and see, new sights, new Pokemon, new opportunities.
Mm, that's what sequels and remakes are made for! To improve their previous games and make it more enjoyable and interesting. :3
March 20th, 2013 10:27 PMHikamaruPlatinum basically fixed most stuff Diamond & Pearl failed at, like the slow battle and surf speed, expanding the Pokedex (mainly because Diamond/Pearl had only 2 Fire-type lines accessible before E4, and if you didn't pick Chimchar you got stuck with Ponyta, which was why I always had to pick Chimchar when I played Diamond/Pearl) and also fixing most major Trainers' teams. The Distortion World was also cool.
I did have a fun time with HG/SS especially since I never played the original Gold/Silver/Crystal and there was a nice postgame with the Kanto sidequest.
It's sorta like in 5th Gen how Black 2 & White 2 improved on what Black & White was lacking.
March 20th, 2013 10:21 PMAslanI could argue against that actually haha, HG/SS had the ability of two storylines, one of Johto and the other Kanto. There was more action and drama in the storylines, along with the Kimono GIrls, Suicune and Euisine, better character personalities etc. Although I have to admit D/P/Pt did a great job on their storyline and plot as well, especially the Distorion World and the designs of places.
Yeah Platinum all the way! To be completely honest they could of thrown more into D/P but Platinum delivered that so yeah. :3
March 20th, 2013 10:13 PMHikamaruYeah, I did enjoy HG/SS but D/P/Pt had a slight better story for me. Platinum especially.
March 20th, 2013 10:12 PMAslanYeah it was haha except I think it used to be 3rd Gen to be honest. :p
And I did :3, I liked HG/SS for all of the new features, graphics and gameplay over D/P/Pt, although they're both great games in my opinion!
March 20th, 2013 10:04 PMHikamaru4th Gen was your fave, and from what I recall you slightly liked HG/SS better?
March 20th, 2013 10:00 PMAslanMm... I wouldn't call it an obsession. XD
I just like Fourth Gen quite a bit seeing it was my first :3, so I just like discussing and making topics there I suppose. ;x

You really are obsessed with that section aren't you?
March 20th, 2013 09:19 PMAslanHaha yes you are, you're a great person to be around. :3
Oh really? :x. I like the activities usually, we go to all sorts of places such as museums and labs and yeah! I'd be interested in seeing what sorts of places you went to when you were in school haha, also I can understand. I think I've gotten lost twice in all my six years of excursions. x_x
Haha, I saw. :3
March 20th, 2013 09:05 PMHikamaruWell I am a bit of a character on PC, according to Derk.
And yeah, I know how I often got lost when I used to go on school excursions. I was often never fond of the activities lol.
As for how I'm doing, I'm doing great. Tyler made me blush again by posting this in my celebration thread.
