Nice, there's free space starting from 0x730000-0xCFFFFF and then 0xD00000 is used then the rest of it until 0xFFFFFF is free-space.

Do you happen to know how much free space is in an average GBA rom, or more specifically, firered? I'm a little little bit concerned about space usable for the hacking of my rom, but it's just a curiosity really.

Hey, I figured out how to change the intro sprites!

Ermm, you really don't need APE in inserting sprites. You only need it for editing the pallete.

Okay, I managed to successfully change the intro sprites using unLZGBA+APE, but in-game, the palettes of Oak/Hero/Heroine/Rival are all messed up.

I think it might be a good idea to start from scratch with a fresh FR rom, anyway.

Someone said they would help me with the intro sprites, though

Well idk what your problem really is, although If I reach to something like this I will try and try and try until it works.

Still nothing, even when I used the sprites as they were, of course after reducing color depth to 16-bit using irfanview.

Don't make you sprites grayscale insert them how hey look like ad insert the pallete they use.

And, again! I managed to change the palette and greyscale sprite for Red in the intro successfully but when I booted up the rom in VBA, the colors were all messed up. Re-extracted the rom from it's zip folder to get a fresh rom, and opened up NSE again..only to find out it's not letting me replace the greyscale sprites in the intro. I suspect it may have to do with how I'm making my custom intro sprites into greyscale versions, but I'm not sure.

It's not letting me replace Oak's greyscale sprite strangely though

Well if you edited one of the palletes the other palletes should not be changed unless you hanged the sprite.

Changing Oak's sprite in the intro. I'm trying to follow what you told me, i.e with the "click 256 colors and replace it be sure to have it in the same canvas size of prof.oak and then go edit the pallete in APE although the sprites' pallete in the intro or somewhat connected so it will be really hard to replace those"

Erm, I think you have to take a look at the offset in UNLZ and open the offset in APE.

But, APE has the pallete for editing the intro sprites bookmarked so you might just wanna check that out.

Once you get the pallete in APE just export it as .act file.

What are you trying to do really?
