July 17th, 2013 08:07 PMAstinusStop. You're making me want to get the game now. Which I haven't done because I'm poor and haven't finished Partners In Time/Superstar Saga. :(
July 17th, 2013 12:31 PMIvysaurManaged to identify the song that was previously playing in my profile and put the "awake" version, I think it's even better. Just saying!
July 4th, 2013 12:05 AMIvysaurFrom what you say, sounds like a forward left winger. A defender or a midfielder would rarely talk about scoring a hat-trick, corner/free kick headers are usually scored by either forwards or defenders, and the fact that he's placed on the top left zone during kick off pretty much gives it away.
He just seems to play in a defensive-oriented team, that's all.
July 3rd, 2013 11:47 PMAstinusAnd this is why, after I looked up the basic information, I decided to ask you. This is really helpful and fascinating!
After watching the two times where he's shown to play, I can try to answer your questions the best I can.
Quote:That time he apparently handballed- was he trying to catch the ball to attack or to clear it away? Did he receive a card for it? Which colour?
Quote:What does he do primarily? Attacking or defending?Quote:"You're up a point, but you can't just protect your lead. They'll see that and attack."
"No problem! I'll score a hat trick!"
July 3rd, 2013 12:12 AMIvysaurWell, he can be playing as an offensive midfielder, since their job is passing the ball around, but they need to be ready to steal balls when they can and go ahead with the attack to be there in case they need to finish. There also are examples of defenders (specially wingers) who end up scoring a lot of goals as well- Barcelona have Jodi Alba and Dani Alves who love becoming forwards whenever they can.
Finally there also are forwards who are told to defend, specially in super-defensive teams. If I have seen super-scoring diva Cristiano Ronaldo just clearing balls away a few times, then anything is possible.
So, in order to know his position, we need to go:
- What does he do primarily? Attacking or defending?
- That time he apparently handballed- was he trying to catch the ball to attack or to clear it away? Did he receive a card for it? Which colour?
In any case, if you are unsure which part he does primarily, go with the "midfielder" explanation since that's where most players who don't do anything in particular and everything at once are classed in. And no, they don't need to be the most fit in the team- just look at Andrés Iniesta and Xavi, one of the best couples in the world, both small and really weak-looking.
July 2nd, 2013 09:42 PMAstinus:D Mario & Luigi Dream Team music! A pleasant surprise to hear when I visit your profile. (Though I was listening to Colress's battle theme from B2/W2 as I wrote this, since that's my current go-to writing song.) I can't wait for that game to come out.
Anyhow, I have a few questions about football/soccer! It's for the story I'm currently writing, and I like getting even the smallest fact correct in this story. So let me ask a question with some explanation.
I have a character who plays soccer a lot. In the two times that I've seen him play in canon (the show I'm basing this fic on) I've seen him do two plays:
-he attempts to catch a pass in his hands, but I know he's not playing goalie as he was standing near the middle of the field
-he makes a few attacks on the other team's goal
-he slides in front of a player on the other team to stop them from making a goal
What position would he be playing?
To get pass the scene I need this information for, I first put him as a forward, since that fits the type of character he is (just goes on the attack). But then I remembered that he also did defense in a game, and between that and midfielders apparently needing to be the most physically fit players on the team, I made him a midfielder. So was my decision correct?
This is ridiculous but I know you would expect nothing less from me. :D Let me know if you need any more clarification on anything.
Thanks, Went! <3
July 1st, 2013 01:27 AMIvysaurThere is even a more interesting story behind, with both Bimbo brands being separated during their lifetimes and evolving differently on both sides of the pond until they merged back in 2010, but that's going off the point XD
If I'm not wrong, Bimbo was the brand to actually introduce sliced bread here and they are now the undisputed leaders.
I guess you sell Mexican Bimbo? (Both have similar logos but with a difference that makes it possible to tell them apart).
June 30th, 2013 05:02 PMAstinusQuote:Fun fact: sliced bread is known in Spain as "Bimbo bread" because that's the brand which pretty much owns the entire sliced bread market! (Here and in Mexico).
That explains that! My store sells that brand, and the pronunciation of the brand was lost on me. But now it makes sense!
June 11th, 2013 11:21 AMAstinusWell, that one's just too adorable not to accept!
