October 23rd, 2011 3:46 PMElite Overlord LeSabre™I never did have the patience of sticking with Magikarp in the early going, lol... and Gyarados being double weak to Electric always was a bit of concern for me, since many of the folks I used to battle used them quite a bit. Trying to work with Magikarp is definitely a challenge, though. At least in SS you won't have to worry about any Electric-type gyms until you travel to Kanto.
Same here, though it seems to vary from town to town... sometimes every town around ours will shut down our schools, but ours will still be open. It was the polar opposite where I attended college... Down there, if snow so much as dusted the ground, campus shut down completely, That was nice I wish I was back there now, especially since our football team is currently 8-0
October 23rd, 2011 1:53 PMMontyWinzYou know... I don't really know if I have a favourite. I think it may possibly be Magikarp/Gyarados.. I know that Gyarados is seen as being pretty powerful and on a lot of teams, but I really like raising a Magikarp early in the game and seeing it all the way through. For my mono-type run right now I caught a Magikarp at lvl 10 right after the first gym and trained it up to Gyarados right before the 2nd badge, it was tough! Now I'm going to have to think about what my favourite family is haha.
Winter's here aren't much better sometimes. Unfortunately, with the way our systems work the weather has to be absolutely horrendous before they start allowing you to stay away from work, etc. Like... there's been times were we had freezing rain all night and the plows and salters won't get out because of the hazard but everybody is still expected to get in to work and classes. Brutal sometimes
October 20th, 2011 8:00 AMElite Overlord LeSabre™Yep. it's the first Pokemon family I really fell in love with, and I've always liked using them since. You do tend to see the same Pokemon with high stats over and over again in online battling, though... it gets a bit boring. Wow, I could never play through a game with only one type of Pokemon though... I always need a diverse group whenever I play the games.
Yes, every year I've been up here I've had to put up with some very nasty winters... it's gotten under my skin so much that nowadays I'd actually rather NOT see a white Christmas, lol The Carolinas are definitel a much better place to live,a nd as soon as I find work I intend to return there... but that whole "getting work" thing is the hard part.
So, have you been doing well lately?
October 19th, 2011 6:19 PMMontyWinzThat's so awesome that you use Meowth/Persian. You know I'm beginning to learn that everybody really does like different Pokemon lol. I guess I was always seeing all the really competitive people and it always seemed like they all have the same Pokemon. I'm still trying to find my key Pokemon, I think I may find it this time since I am doing a playthrough of SS with only Water-types and I'm actually really enjoying it.
I've heard that winters in WNY are really tough. I live in Ontario so just above you, right in the middle of Lakes Huron, Erie and Ontario. Since we get some of your channels we always see all of the blizzard warnings you guys get.
I've never been to the Carolina's but I've heard they are really nice. A group of my university friends went down there last summer on a road trip and loved it.
October 17th, 2011 5:30 AMElite Overlord LeSabre™Yeah, not to mention wi-fi data, battle records and everything else that I don't want to lose, so I wonder if it's worth it to buy a second, used copy of Soul Silver (my brother has Heart Gold, but you can't catch Meowth/Persian in there, and it's always been a key member of my teams, so...)
Western New York. I hate it here. I went to college in North/South Carolina and I would sell my soul to be able to live back down there again. And it doesn't help that we live in the middle of nowhere in western New York, so it's not only cold, but boring as well:/
October 16th, 2011 5:16 PMMontyWinzI know how you feel about the shinies, I had the event Celebi that you need to get Zorua that I didn't want to lose. I ended up transferring it into Platinum so it's saved for another day
Do you live in the north? I live in Canada, it's definitely getting chilly out!
October 16th, 2011 6:55 AMElite Overlord LeSabre™Thanks!
Cool, too bad I really don't dare delete my SS data (I have a couple shinies in there that I don't want to lose). I might start a play through of Leaf Green since I do have two cartridges of that and it has my favorite female trainer Other than that I've been looking for a job and the usual things, like watching anime and stuff
I'm doing pretty good, except it's very cold in the house right now:/
October 15th, 2011 7:16 PMMontyWinzNo problem, you seem pretty down to earth so I'm happy to have added you
I'm not doing too shabby, debating doing a playthrough of SoulSilver using one of the challenges and just been busy with the usual life stuff.
