November 20th, 2012 08:04 PMPlatinum LucarioI remember the days when there used to be a "ROM Hacking Newsletter". I'm thinking about starting up an entirely new ROM Hacking Newsletter from scratch and making one every two weeks or so. I could start up a new team for the RHN and then we could try and make it more interesting than ever before. ;)
October 11th, 2012 01:47 PMPlatinum LucarioAh, I see. Thanks. :)
October 11th, 2012 01:32 PMgiradialkiaTo answer your question, there's no real rule against asking about releases for the Toolbox forum. There certainly is in the case of hacks (in all of the Hack subforums) but not necessarily when it comes to tools. :)
September 4th, 2011 12:35 AMPlatinum LucarioYeah, I understand. ^^
So looking into the hex codings and stuff would need to be done, so one thing I need to figure out... is the coding that defines the objects such as the trees would be a great way to start off with, so until I've done a little edit value here and another edit value there. Surely it will count towards the research, I can understand that the research and development is solely based on having the knowledge of what hex codes to edit and so on. Thanks for letting me know, there's still many things I have to yet learn about how to find which code defines this and that. Since I do mainly focus on the Pokémon Black/White ROMs mainly. Though I did edit a Pokémon Platinum's map data with the snow in Twinleaf Town, which I did mess up the texture rendering of course. xD And one thing I yet have to find out... is to find the value that edits the possition of an object. I could be missing some knowledge on how to figure out what values change what.
September 3rd, 2011 09:33 AMgiradialkiaHi there :) Yeah, I noticed that thread...
To be honest, in Research and Development, threads generally need to have a solid foundation of knowledge to be approved. And I know, the entire concept of "Researching and Developing" is based on gaining the knowledge needed, but.. Your thread would better suit the section if it referred to the coding and so on, rather than what you learned while using a Gameshark/Action Replay code. And I don't mean that in an offensive way, so please don't take it that way- I just mean, you could have discovered that information by just playing the actual game on a DS, which means it doensn't entirely count as research.
Anyway, does that make any sense to you? I may have worded poorly or something, so... In an attempt to sum it up, if you want that thread to be approved, you'll need to do a bit more research into the ROM first :) Sorry for the delay, that totally slipped my mind, hehe.
September 2nd, 2011 11:19 PMPlatinum LucarioHi, how've ya been?
I just kinda wondering about what I should improve on in my research thread, and what is needed for it to be approved. Most of the information is about the Black/White mapping system, I mainly typed up the information on what I saw while using the Walk Through Walls code. I just wonder if that is enough for it to be accepted? After all, we're always learning something new every day (even for a thread that hasn't been approved).
And my goodness, Colcolstyles pretty much seems to be away probably for important reasons in reality, which I can totally understand. After all, even I... have important things to do in reality. I'm sure everyone does. xD
