    I don't know. Poccil has made many updates to Essentials during its time, and I only have real experience with an old version (that doesn't lag, at least, not for me). The day/night system might have something to do with it, though, since it's constantly re-shading the maps depending on the time and location and time of the year and so much other nonsense. But that's just a guess.
